We wanted to know if you merged the results from EVERY race where would you and your team stack up?
Ok, clearly Milton is on the verge of their first XC State Title. In other interesting news, could Gwinnett county fail to have a podium team including an end to Brookwood's amazing podium streak?I doubt it and I think we will get a better idea at Coach Wood, Saturday really seemed to have a strange feel on not any team completely on...except for Milton of course. (via MileSplit)

The Gwinnett County Championships promise to be full of competitive action as the largest county in Georgia will have 23 schools going for it !
It was a great week of competition, and the 6A 'AOWs week ending 3-19 are: Jonathan Scwind, Tia Jones, Brianna Isles, Ryan Camp, South Forsyth gals 4x1600 and Milton boys 4x800.
It was another great 2 days of competition at the Coaches Invitational this Spring, as 107 Elite Performances were achieved.

4 Squads leap frogged Northview after 'Region Madness. Harrison, Brookwood, Pope and Walton all moved up as well. Will Northview be full strength at Carrollton, that is the Big ?
Very little movement in the Final Class Ranking of the Fall except for Roswell shooting up to 7th after a great race at 5-AAAAAA. Marietta looks unbeatable on 11-7. The 2-4 Podium spots will be wildly contested on what's forecasted to be a beat up, sloppy course in the afternoon.
Big Photo Gallery from the Region 8-AAAAAA Championships by Chris d' aquin.
Brookwood swept the 8-AAAAAA team titles at the Georgia International Horse Park Saturday afternoon.
Coach Wood really shook up the 6A Girls Team Rankings as every team in the top 10 moved either up or down. South Forsyth may be slowly closing the gap back on Northview heading into Region. Etowah ran great moving up 3 spots after their performance at Coach Wood. North Paulding tore it up bbreaking bad into 9th. *All teams designated 11th are in no particular order*
Coach Wood set things straight (for now) heading into Carrollton Last Chance followed by Region meets! Mill Creek ran great moving back to 2nd. Woodstock won the Sharptop Invitational. Walton is beginning to look like 'Walton' heading into the final 17 days of the 2015 season.
The Nike Fleet Feet Coach Wood meet certainly is responsible for all the movement in the All Class Boys Rankings this week!
South Forsyth ran LIGHTS OUT at Coach Wood, their #3-5 runners really stepped up to finish 2nd behind Northview. West Forsyth was off this week and stay in the top 10. North Paulding jumps into the watch list after a strong performance at Coach Wood finishing 11th.
If one was not at the Nike-Fleet Feet Coach Wood Invitational, you missed some high caliber racing Saturday on an absolutely perfect Fall morning. Most of the top 10 All-Class ranked teams duked it out on the Gainesville College course, which will make ranking teams very easy in a couple of days.
Coach Wood will be a battleground Saturday for many of these top ranked squads. Little movement with Harrison jumping into 7th after Furman and Westminster is back in the top 10 after their 3rd place effort at Asics.
The Nike/Fleet Feet Coach Wood meet is going to shape things up...(Riley Friedman won in 2014) Five of the top 6 teams Varsity were off. Milton won Furman impressively. 4 4A squads remain in the top 10!
Big Showdowns coming at the Coach Wood meet this Saturday! South Forsyth closed the gap on Northview a bit at Asics. Harrison moved up 2 spots after their Furman race. Woodstock on the watch list after Cherokee County.
Not much movement this week in 6A as most of the 'Big Boys' were resting up for the Coach Wood Invitational which is going to be 'off the chain' and Ga.MileSplit will be onsite! Woodstock leapfrogged county rival Etowah after winning Cherokee County.
Many top 10 squads were off, but FSU and Westover were last minute subs for a few top teams. South Forsyth topped rival West Forsyth down in Westover. Cobb County shook up the rankings on the bottom end with Walton cracking the top 10 besting Harrison and Pope.
The top 8 positions this week have no movement. Walton breaks into the top 10 taking 2nd at Cobb County as well as Harrison who placed 3rd.
Mill Creek retains their top ranking being the top GA squad at FSU placing 3rd. Marist ran well dowm in Tallahassee at FSU. South Forsyth beat West Forsyth (w/o Liz Galarza)
Marietta dominated Cobb County without Patterson. FSU sorted out 5 All-Class positions this week with Brookwood remaining #2 after being the top Georgia Boys squad.North Oconee cracks the top 10 after winning at Mountain Invitational.
Here are your Georgia Boys 'Runners of the Week' by Class from last week's rain drenched limited action.
With a governor ordered state of emergency in North Carolina, the Great American Cross Country Festival cancelled Thursday evening, leaving several of Georgia’s top teams scrambling to find a place to race this past Saturday.
1 & 2 roll the dice...Mill Creek was off, Northview dominant winning Wingfoot. South Forsyth beat Milton at Wingfoot, but Milton ran without their #1 (Riley Burr) Marist was 4th at Wingfoot and Lovett 6th (without #2 Haley Hooper)
Mill Creek remains #1 until a heads up Northview at full strength won Wingfoot impressively.
No movement in top 7 places All Class. Whitewater moves into the top 10 after winning the Atlanta Classic. Great American may sort some things out next week up top.
There was no movement amongst the top 6 squads from last week with Marietta's Varsity, Brookwood and Mill Creek all off. Milton was the top 6A school at Wingfoot, and Peachtree Ridge & Etowah ran split squads last Saturday. Walton is back on the 'Watch List' after a 17:19 team average at Alligator Lake (FL)
Marietta defeated #10 Nationally Ranked Broughton at the Adidas Classic rising to #1 in 6A & All Class. Brookwood rose to 2nd after winning Gwinnett County. Pope moved up 3 spots to 7th after a fine race at Ridge Ferry.
Mill Creek takes over #1 after their domination of the Gwinnett County Championship. Northview back at full strength looks poised to defend their 6A title. Parkview showed improvement at Gwinnett moving up 2 spots to 8th. Peachtree Ridge emerges on the 'Watch List' 11-15.
Mill Creek jumps to #1 All Class after a dominating performance at Gwinnett County. Northview rises 6 spots, finally running full strength at Fulton County.
Marietta Boys explode to the top of the All-Class Rankings after traveling to Cary NC and beating MileSplit National #10 Broughton.
Once again some great racing in the Gwinnett County Championships as Mill Creek has established themselves as the premiere program in Georgia with their Girls just blowing away a competitive field by nearly 60 points and the guys a close 2nd to Brookwood. The Hawks also boasted the top Individuals with sam Costa Overall Boys champ and Camryn Petit taking the Girls' honors.
24 schools will descend on the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers for the Gwinnett County Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
6A Girls was very similar to the Boys as carrollton and Double Dip had a heavy influence on this week's team rankings. West Forsyth had a solid win at Ortho, Milton traveled well to Knights Crossing taking 2nd. There was no movement from 5-10 and the 'Watch list changed a bit with Alpharetta now on the 'Radar'
Milton sits atop the 6A Boys Rankings after their 2nd place finish at Knights Crossing up in Virginia without Jack Bluth and their #4. Carrollton Orthopedic and Coach Benson DD easily helped sort out the Weekly Rankings with top teams going head to head. Mill Creek was 2nd at Carrollton without Sam Costa (ACT) Brookwood ran their JV, Peachtree Ridge was off. Grayson had a good race winning Covered Bridge. Everyone should be full strength at the Gwinnett County (onsite coverage) and Fulton County Championships next Saturday
Over 1400 runners gathered at the State Course on Saturday having great mid-September racing conditions in very uncrowded race situations for this venue. (excluding Championship Boys) Anticipation was high for those races with many top squads and Indivduals competing.Brief ReCap (more coming Monday)
The AAAAAA 'Runners of the Week' also came from Berry and at&t Panther as Lauren Flynt of Brookwood and Andrew Singh of Walton HS earned the honors week ending 9/6.
Mill Creek Gals are atop the first All-Class XC season rankings after 2 impressive performances and how it could shake out in a meet with all of these teams listed in a larger meet. Should leave plenty for discussion for Insiders on the Discussion Board.
Okay, Milton is at the top of the Week ending 9-6 All Class rankings. Can they hold it, as Mill Creek and Brookwood both looked very tough early. 4A power squads Marist and St. Pius X follow that 6A group with many wondering where is Khayvonn Benson from Marietta. Let's get the discussions going now on the Board!RANKINGS ADMINISTRATOREdit RankingsEdit Series
After the first 3 weeks West Forsyth ran well enough to be ranked #1 in the first set of Weekly Team Rankings. Mill Creek won Berry. The top 7 teams could all move after this weekend's upcoming racing.
Milton is #1 in 6A Boys in the first set of Weekly Rankings. Brookwood showed at at&t Panther they have definitely reloaded. Several teams in the top 10 who went unranked in pre-season
In the Varsity races Mount De Sales took a surprising team win and Madison Allie from Locust Grove took Individual honors. Carrollton triumphed on the Boys side with Deonte Lee of Ola HS Individual Champ in 17:03.

This year’s line-up for the 4th annual AT&T Starr’s Mill Panther XC Invitational looks even deeper than last year’s event and bigger. With 54 teams and 1800 athletes across high school and middle school athletes on the beautiful rolling grass fields and trail of Heritage, it will be an awesome day for running.
A surprising amount of prominent athletes on the 6A circuit return for the 2015 campaign. Based on those returners, I’ve devised the following pre-season rankings heading into this season along with a couple highlights of those returners. NOTE: These are NOT State predictions which often weigh state meet history and other intangibles into play. This is my attempt to best make sense of the top returning teams without merely looking at a virtual meet.
While 6A lost some talent at the top, a surprising amount of prominent athletes on the 6A circuit return for the 2015 campaign. NOTE: These are NOT State predictions which often weigh state meet history and other intangibles into play. This was the featured race of the evening most had been waiting for. Miles Yapp from Brookwood assumed command of the race in lap 2, but had to hold off a whirlwind finish by Davis Stockwell and Jonathan Schwind winning in a fine time of 4:15.10
Anthony Keeling from Brookwood HS signed his NLI with Troy University (ALA)
Georgia #1 in the 3200 meters Mile Yapp of Brookwood HS signed his NLI recently to run with the speedy Oklahoma State program.
Oh man...its going down to the wire for the Girls AAAAAA Team title as McEachern and Westlake will face off again down in the bowl of hot and humid Albany at Hugh Mills Stadium. Whoever brings it, will emerge as 6A Champs !!!
Here are the newly chosen 2015 All Region 8-AAAAAA Track and Field Teams compiled by Coaches Association President Matt Henson of Parkview. Miles Yapp of Brookwood and Aliyah Abrams of Grayson were the 8-AAAAAA 'AOY's'
Here is a mid-season Team Power Ranking for 6A Boys thru 4-1 meets. McEachern currently tops the list with 58 points.
The Milton Showcase was contested over 2 days and proved to be the most outstanding meet of the weekend with 21 MileSplit National Elite standards achieved. 24 schools & 1234 athletes competed. Unique was the distance flavor including the 5000, 2 Mile, 1500 and DMR races. Milton's Boys won their first large Track invitational in nearly 6 years. Brookwood's Girls took the Team title and won the Overall Program Award.
The links in the article body are for pre-registering for the annual GA Track/XC Coaches clinic, as well as basic information. This year mark's the 20th edition, and the best lineup of speakers ever! Hands-on/demonstration sessions for many events: Hurdles, Vault, Jumps, Throws, Starts, Relays. There will also be a session and info in the coaches' packets about the new GATFXCCA, the Georgia Track & Field / Cross Country Coaches Association, that is being formed now for our sport. A great group of vendors with some cool drawings will be included.
You had to be there and watch the setting and atmosphere change as 4A began to race and the 6A schools and their rabid fans begin to arrive and populate the surrounding start/finish area and line both sides of the big hill below the school on top. The buzz could be felt in the air as the 6A Boys headed towards the start line and warmed up, doing runouts waiting for some sloooow AA girls to finish their stroll. Tension and anticipation mounted as squads toed the line and thousands of their faithful fans, jv runners roared as the race began...Marietta went to work taking care of business and no fewer than 10 guys mixed it up within 25 meters of each other till the end as Davis Stockwell emerged victorious...
6A Boys Team: Marietta. The entire season (and really even during last track season), the whole state has been watching this team. They’ve gone undefeated versus all GA competition and only have a blemish on their record vs. a now #11 nationally ranked La Salle squad (source: DyeStat). They very well could put 3 (more?) in the top 10 in the state’s biggest class, and with a 1-5 split of well under a minute at region, we can expect them to have their 4-5 not far behind. It’s their race to lose. Coach “Black Jack” Coleman will have his guys ready to go. It’ll be exciting to watch.
Region meets last week for 6A teams were quite telling of who the real players are this Saturday in Carrollton. The Boys top 5 are all strong. We can't see anyone pushing Marietta, but the real race is after the show for 2nd thru 4th, and will Miles Yapp be back for Brookwood? South Forsyth's Girls beat Northview at region, can they do it again and beat Milton? Milton's program has been on fire this season...and Collins Hill with their very tight pack at region could make some noise.
Region 8 took to the turf and trail at the Horse Park immediately follwing the Region 7 races. Temps had warmed up just enough, as the sun began to break through heavy cloud cover by racetime, so they did not have the miserable conditions endured by regions who had raced in the morning. It was just like back in the day when it was Brookwood and Parkview battling for 8-AAAAA supremacy. Some things rarely change (no Miles Yapp? no problemo) as Brookwood's boyz won the team title scoring 22 points, and Coach Carter's Lady Broncs made it a clean sweep, edging neighborhood rival Parkview by 4 points. Pictured is Brookwood's David Giuliano holding off Grayson's Jonathan Ernst just before the finish mats.
In this article is a picture collage of the top 3 finishers including the Championship, Varsity Gold, Varsity Cardinal and Championship JV races. the cover pic is of Reilly Friedman of Galloway winning the Boys Championship Overall title in 15:50. All Images by Jonathan Speights.
6A Changes pretty much reflect what occurred All-Class. Mill Creek and Brookwood's Girls moving up after Gwinnett, Northview closing in on Marist, perhaps they will meet somwhere this season? How Milton dropped after a 17:55 at perhaps the toughest XC course in Georgia is one of those things that makes you go "hmmmmm"
Here all the Boys All-Class Rankings for Week Ending 9-20. We are trying out another new MileSplit Feature if you will click under the header in the article. let me know if the Rankings spreadsheet displays. Marietta stays on top, Brookwood moves up to 3 after Gwinnett, St.Pius X to 2nd after Hare n' Hounds. Northview may be closing the gap on Marist in Girls All-Class. Mill Creek and Brookwood both shot up the ladder after impressive performances at Gwinnett County.
Here are images from the Gwinnett County Championships of the top 3 finishers in the Varsity and JV Championship races taken by MileSplit photographer Jonathan Speights. Keep in mind, as a 'MileSplit Insider' you will have full access to all Photo Galleries and will be able to copy/save images to your computer from any meets....
By the most excellent spreadsheet compiled by your 6A Ranker, its easy to reason why teams moved up or down this week. Our All Class/6A rankers collaborate before releasing Weekly rankings to be as objective as possible (much like the AJC, rofl) Marietta Boys, Northview Girls are rock steady at #1 again. Teams moving up All-Class, did the same in 6A. Milton had a great week as some forecasted they would rise up and be top 5 squads. Mill Creek showed promise of what can be come November...Brookwood, Walton and North Cobb boys enjoyed the week off.
Here is a list of the top 50 returning 6A Boys by fastest times from 2013 Cross Country. Miles Yapp from Brookwood could be the man to beat come November at Carrollton.
These are subjective rankings (not computer generated); they take into account returning team rankings, team rankings in the 1600 and 3200 from outdoor track, and a school's "Improvement Rating." Improvement Rating is a metric developed by researching the improvement in a team's final place at State from 2011-2013. Each category is given rank points and added up coming to a final point total. Brookwood can never be counted out as a contender with the tremendous program they have built, and even when graduating most of their top 7 each year, just reload and tear up turf come November.
Shiloh HS won their first Track title on Saturday afternoon clinching their title early behind the legs of speedy Jeremy McDuffie as he won 4 gold medals leading the Generals march to the Podium. The competition was intense for the runnerup team spot as Brookwood (41) and 3rd place Westlake (40.5) and Rockdale County were right in the mix till their last stride in the 4x400m relay. The 400 and 800m races were epic as both events came down to the wire....
Day 1 of the2014 Georgia Olympics had some outstanding performances achieved by athletes from all classes. It was definitely 'Hot as Georgia Asphalt' in Jefferson earlier today, confounding climatologists statewide as it seemed weatherwise we all were down in Albany without the gnats, lol. Daniel Haugh from St.Pius X thrilled the fans and his fellow throwers alike winning the 3A Discus with his 1st attempt in 194-5. A few of the highlites ga.milesplit shot pics for are included in this brief article..
Shiloh HS is the pre-meet favorite after winning Region and getting their top scorers out of Sectionals. If they perform as they have all season the Generals could have it clinched before the 4x400m relay. Westlake looks to be a contender and Brookwood's top guns will have them near the top of the leaderboard (electronic) by Friday's end. There are no less than 5 teams with an opportunity to bust into the top 4 including Lovejoy, Grayson, Mill Creek, Rockdale County and Collins Hill.
The weather was pleasant (finally) for Sectionals this past Saturday. 6A 'B' was held in Tifton Ga, and 6A 'A' was at McEachern and the racing was hot and heavy for both. Surprising the only chatter on the Discussion Board has been very low key. 103 National Elites were achieved in 'A' and currently we have no data for 'B' as of presstime.
Shiloh currently looks to be the top team in the All Georgia Boys Team Power Rankings.
With meets like the Fulton and gwinnett county championships being contested it comes as no surprise the great performances turned in with school pride on the line. The High Jump competition in the 6A at Georgia Olympics will be very interesting as this past week, Bailey Vitatoe of Brookwood and Joshua Hill from Newnan both cleared bars of 6-10 earning them co- 6A Boys 'AOW' honors. Also, Rashaad Pollard of Westlake is selected an overall 'AOW' after his sizzling 10.52 and 21.51 at the Fulton meet.
Round 4 of the heavyweight 6A programs Brookwood and Peachtree Ridge didn't disapoint. The anticipation built as results were compiled with Peachtree Ridge's depth making the difference for a 12 point margin of victory. Soph Avery Bussjager of Walton HS won her first 6A state title in 19:04.
Never doubt that Coach Dehnke's Brookwood squad isn't going to bring it at State. The Broncos have bounced up and down in the rankings all season, but on the biggest stage ran well enough to take the AAAAAA title with 101 points. Closest team race in history as 28 points separated 1-5. Back in 2007 only 21 points separated 1-5! Fun to watch...Kevin Mills was a man among boys running tall to his first state title.
This may be the only race with a clear favorite, oh wait, favorites. Peachtree Ridge and Brookwood have been the top two teams all season. Currently, Peachtree Ridge has a 2 to 1 advantage head to head, but by a combined 3 points margin of victory. If either or both the Lady Lions and Lady Broncos don’t have a good day, their lie some Lady Hoyas and Lady Blue Devils ready to pounce.
2013 is a year of parity for the largest classification in Georgia Cross Country. Both in team and individual races, there are no clear favorites in the way that has become the custom in recent years. Coaches will be busy doing quick scores in anticipation of the team outcome, even shooting video of the finish. This will be race for the ages..
Parkview's boys outraced Brookwood winning their first region title in several years while the dynamic Shiloh duo of Nahom Soloman and Bryan Kamau went out strong and crossed the finish line in unison (16:24) in the individual race. Brookwood's girls rolled to the team title in preparation for their final battle against Peachtree Ridge next week. Lauren Brennan was the Girls champ in 19:14
Coach Wood is a great prep for State in 20 days Crowded, a very talented field of teams. The event was very well-organized by the Mill Creek staff. Some reported that the grass felt "wet & thick" (even though it was mowed). The intensity in the Championship Varsity races was palpable..and the venue had a pulse of its own with an enthusiastic crowd in attendance. In the race everyone had been gearing up for weeks, the Coach Wood Invitational made the tea leaves a bit easier to read after another great event hosted by Mill Creek. Has Harrison been sandbagging this season? (A Golf term for cleverly holding back, not displaying one's true prowess, to strike when the time is right and leave your playing partner bewildered at your newly found skills) Marist's Girls proved they are the best in Georgia, as did both their Middle School teams earlier today in Cochran. Did anyone catch Michael Thurston's mad final 300 meters in an attempt to catch Austin Sprague? Coach Wood at Gainesville may be the true 'meausuring stick' in this State, especially a couple weeks or less before Regions...
Every Fall a dozen give or take Georgia schools make it an overnite trip to Magic Kingdom land to race in the highly competitive Disney Cross Country Classic. Included this season were Brookwood's Girls, Centennial, Northview, Alpharetta, Lamar County, FPD, Georgia Military, Grayson, Kennesaw Mountain, Riverwood, Roswell, Sandy Creek, Sprayberry and West Forsyth. Brookwood, Centennial and Northview's Girls and Alex Dunlap of Kennesaw Mountain made it a trip to remember.
Here are the Week 5 All-Class Rankings. Peachtree Ridge Boys backs up their top 6A ranking with a big win at the Gwinnett County meet and a fast team average bumps them up to #1 all class followed closely by a Brookwood squad who has yet to run their top two runners..With Marist and Etowah Girls both off the top remains the same. But Brookwood was able to edge Peachtree Ridge this time in Gwinnett as they swapped spots on our list.
This season, the course at Carrollton has ran slower, and may have been lengthened a few meters which should favor the 'strength' runners. At press-time, it has been discussed that mats may possibly be covering the many pavement crossings which has been a sore subject for XC purists as the growth of Carollton Schools has stirred the pot enough for a few schools willing to loan the mats they have to cover the pavement. This article will include 2A thru 6A State Previews only. The weather for raceday looks very promising at this time and bodes well for fast times http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail3/USGA0096 6A...we have been saving the Best for Last, and here it is from Ga.MileSplit.com, thanks to Pre1962 as expounds his unique and detailed breakdown for the Community....Ga.MileSplit.com and GATFXC would like to thank all the Rankers and Runner of the Week Committee members for the tough, time consuming efforts put forth this season to rank each class along with contributing articles and selections. This often is a thankless endeavor, as the Community is eager to differ on selections. We care about the kids, programs, coaches, fans and parents who support the programs and athletes. Good Luck to everyone in Carrollton and once again congrats to the Class A Winners, Podium teams, All-State individuals and volunteers that made it happen!

While the Blacksburg boys have gained respect within the state of Virginia this fall as the top ranked team in the state. The respect in the region and national level appears to be lacking. They look to their upcoming race at Maymont to get more attention. Meanwhile, there is an abundance of studs who will be contending for the boys individual title.
The Tatnall girls are back to defend their Maymont title from a year ago as the top ranked team within the Southeast region. In the invitational girls division with Tatnall will be many of Virginia’s top ranked teams as well as strong squads from California, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, and North Carolina. Virginia's #1 ranked team Blacksburg will hope to gain a victory at Maymont as a springboard to a Nike Cross Nationals berth, which has been the season end result for many past champions at Maymont.
