The AAAAA 1600 was quite entertaining producing the Best Performance Award winner as Logan Poteet never looked back shortly after the Start going 4:12.01.

This was the featured race of the evening most had been waiting for. Miles Yapp from Brookwood assumed command of the race in lap 2, but had to hold off a whirlwind finish by Davis Stockwell and Jonathan Schwind winning in a fine time of 4:15.10

Banneker faltered a bit in the 5A 4x100 Relay early on placing 2nd, but had a short memory, as the well rested Trojans from College Park, obliterated the All-Time Georgia HS record and GHSA State Meet record in the 4x400 going 3:12.03 pulling 5A team champ SW DeKalb to a 3:14! WOW!!

A Public is fairly wide open this Georgia Olympics as it appears a new Champ may be crowned in Jefferson this weekend. We did a Sectional virtual meet without distance accounted for and Terrell County is favored.

The AAAA 1600 had some seriously close racing up front and for the next 6 Podium medals. Frank Pittman pulled away the final 300 meters taking the win in the fastest time thus far of the eveving in 4:16.38
In a great race, soph Sam Ellis from Decatur outlasted Chase Kennedy of East Jackson the final lap winning Gold in 4:21.03.
In one of the more exciting (and heartbreaking) finishes of the 1600 races. Miller Kettle of Greater Atlanta Christian won Gold when race leader Everett Smulders hit the deck meters from the finish line..
This race had 2 runners crack sub 5 including new A Public State titlest Jamal Thompson from Terrell County who posted a winning time of 4:50 putting the Green Wave in the driver's seat for a team title.
Robby Keough of Whitefield defended his A Private 1600 meter title clocking a 4:17 in a very interesting race.
In his final Georgia state championship meet, Ryan Clark of Banneker broke two state meet records including a US #1 10.26 in the 100meter dash into a headwind!
Kell's Logan Poteet had the Best Performance of the Georgia Olympics in the 1600m Thursday....and added another in his GHSA Track finale motoring to a sweet 9:05, though not without a 'lil' push..
Chase Kennedy of East Jackson survived some unforseen challenges in the 3200 from Metro runners claiming the AAA 3200 meter State title in 9:32.04
Spencer Fields of Darlington assumed control early and decimated the field going 9:35 for the Gold.
Jamal Thompson from Terrell County unleashed a big kick late coming from over 50 meters back with 200 to go, winning the A Public 3200, sweeping the distance events.
Reilly Friedman of Galloway HS ended his GHSA career by defending his 2013/2014 3200m titles at the Georgia Olympics turning in a solid 9:29.
There's not much more that can be written about Ryan Clark's unbelievable senior season. He threw down 2 impressive performances Friday in the 100 and 200 meter races.
Ryan Clark wowed the crowd, coaches, fellow athletes and young children, putting on a show that will not soon be forgotten. Clark smashed the All-Time Georgia Olympics State meet records in the 100 and 200 Meters.

The action on the Track was hot in AAAAAA as Rockdale rolled to the title. Archer had a great meet placing 2nd with 45 points, Mill Creek 3rd with Brookwood and Newton County tied for 4th (pic by Daniel McCauley)
Southwest DeKalb had a few more thoroughbreds than anyone else in 5A and they ran like the wind claiming their first team State title since 2007 scoring 58 points. The brotherly duo of Terry and Terryon Conwell led the Panthers hunt.

Athens Christian rolled up 45 points going into Finals and clinched it by the 110 Hurdles as Demarcus Evans pulled an upset winning Gold. The Eagles also set a new A State Meet record in the 4x400. Hats off to a great Program!
