It could come down to a battle as in 2017 with Pope and Cambridge. Jack Filan is favored to win the Individual race..

Here are the AAAAAA Boys Pre-Season top 10. Alexander may be primed to win their first state title since 2000, but Harrison could push them.
AAAAAA Girls may be a toss up between Dunwoody and Harrison this season. Frosh Nyah Hernandez could challenge for an individual title.
The only movement in Girls 5A was Starrs Mill moving up 2 spots after taking 2nd at 4-AAAAA. Dunwoody's top 5 hasn't raced since Coach Wood.

In what was by far the most competitive Region meet of the day, as well as Carrollton Last Chance, 4 of the top 7 ranked AAAAA Girls squads and 3 of the top 9 Boys squads let it all hang out at the beautiful Heritage Christian Church course this morning. The Varsity runners definitely had cooler temps, but prs were being achieved by many in every race. Starrs Mill put on a great race and their Volunteers were first class.
5A Girls Rankings held serve except for Alexander cracking the top 10 after not being ranked. Union Grove, McIntosh, Starrs Mill and Northgate will square off this Saturday in Region 4-AAAAA at Heritage Christian Course.
Many of the top teams moved around in the 5A Boys rankings this week excluding top 2 Alexander and Forsyth Central. Cambridge jetted up to 3rd after Coach Wood, Flowery Branch moved back into the top 4 and Clarkston laid an egg dropping down to 10th. Starrs Mill and McIntosh rested up for Region 4-AAAAA coming up Saturday.
Dunwoody maintains their top ranking, after their 19:41 team average at Asics. Alot of moving and shakin' going on in the bottom 5 though... Starrs Mill closed the gap on rival McIntosh at Asics. Northgate jumped up 4 spots and Jones County may be in the top 10 for the first time in recent history at 8th!
The 5th Annual Coach Daley Invite course was lengthened a bit for this Fall and the flat layout didn't yield so many quick times as in the past.
Dunwoody has a hold on #1 after perhaps their strongest race of the Fall at Coach Benson placing 5th Overall in a strong field. Flowery Branch was the top 5A squad at Carrollton. #3 Union Grove was off as well as #7 Northgate. Rome burst into the top 10...
Here are the first 5A Girls Team Rankings of the season week ending 9/6. Dunwoody ran up to expectations and remains on top from their pre-season ranking. McIntosh shot all the way up to 2nd after their BOA performance.
The team title is up for grabs afyer so many talented Individuals graduated. But, the main crux will include some well knowns, including Flowery Branch, defending champ Clarkston, Forsyth Central, Creekview, Starrs Mill and McIntosh as the primary Podium contenders.
The 5A girls look to be a very strong classification with the majority of last year’s top girls all returning. Individuals with a legitimate shot at racing for the win at Carrollton in November include Alyssa Hooker (Lakeside-Evans), Elizabeth Graves (Riverwood), Mary Valli (Starrs Mill), Olivia Terwilliger (Kell), Kelly May Sheehan (Dunwoody), Lauren Wallin (Creekview), Marielle Lewis (Kell), Caroline Nelson (Northgate), Anna Hayden (Riverwood), Ansley Heavern (Dunwoody), Samantha Cameron (Dunwoody).
Marielle Lewis of Kell HS raced to the win in the AAAAA Girls 1600 race.
Another great race to continue the day (and thanks to Matt Day for the great commentary on the Live webcast today thru the 6A races!) It was Dunwoody's day to rule once again as they successfully defended their 2013 title as it seems the extra rest paid dividends for the Lady Wildcats today. Alyssa Hooker of Lakeside Evans took control of the race early and hung tough becoming the 5A Overall Champ in 19:45.
On a morning that started chilly, things heated up soon enough at the crack of the pistol as host Starrs Mill swept the Region 4-AAAAA XC titles and the Individual honors to boot. As projected Starrs, McIntosh, Morrow and Union Grove advanced on the Boys side to State and Starrs. McIntosh, Northgate and Union Grove will move on the ladies end.
It was a veritable 5A face off at Asics last Saturday with teams getting a chance to compete against each other on a fast track...Starrs Mill, Dunwoody were very tight thru #6 with both moving up and Northgate ran well in the 5A-6A race as did Cambridge and Winder-Barrow. McIntosh was missing their top runner affecting their Asics race. Lakeside Evans, Creekview, Starrs Mill and Gainesville moved up on the Boys end. Its unfortunate Clarkston is not running at Coach Wood as they would collide with Forsyth Central...
Cooler temperatures and lower humidity greeted the grateful runners at the 4th Annual Coach Daley Invitational. Sam Bowie of LaGrange and Kathryn Foreman of Landmark Christian took advantage of the pleasant conditions and the relatively flat, fast course and blazed their way to solid victories.
Northgate has made great strides in their XC program the past 3 years going from not qualifying in 2011 to placing 12th in 2013. The Vkings did not run any speedways last season and return their entire top 7 boding well for a run at a Podium spot this season.
With the departure of Northview, Lakeside DeKalb and Pope to 6A, and Dunwoody's Alex Cameron doing her work on the collegiate level this Fall, the Individual title is wide open and there is no prohibitive frontrunner like Kell's Logan Poteet on the Boys side. Caroline Nelson from Northgate is the top returning finisher from 2013 State having placed 4th in 19:59 being 1st out of 4 freshman girls to make the All-State team for 5A.
Northview out of Duluth had firmly established themselves as the team to beat early October and the 'Stage' at Carrollton didn't deter them as the Bolts' struck quickly, seizing their first Girls Cross Country team and Individual Championship in school history, Lindsay Billings ran a strong race, never losing pace separating from 2012 champ Alex Cameron defining herself as one of the top girls in Georgia and a lock to make the Atlanta Track Club's Foot Locker South 'Team Georgia' squad who had their best team finish ever in 2012.
