6. What will Nicholas Crosswhite do this year?

We don't have too many boys who look ready to take down any state records in the field events. But we do have one hope with Nicholas Crosswhite from New Manchester and his best events are the horizontal jumps. I watched him last year score 29 points at the 6A state meet by winning the Long and Triple jumps, placing 3rd in the high jump, and placing 6th in the 110m hurdles. He was basically a one man team as New Manchester was 8th with 31 points. It was a pretty impressive feat and it was fun to watch how his coach managed his recovery on the first day. For all of his talent, he couldn't quite crack the all time top ten in any of his events. But he did finally bust a big jump at USATF in July when he went 25-2. If he can get into that kind of form this year in May or June, he might have a shot at the state long jump record. He also almost hit 50 feet in the triple jump a couple of times, which shows he's at his best when he's on those runways. Combine that with also being over 7 feet in the high jump, and the future Florida gator could find himself on all three lists when it's all said and done. I'm not sure if he will be able to get any state records, but all of them are in play for somebody who can jump at his level. He's also already got four indoor PRs which shows he's ahead of schedule from last year. So keep an eye on those field event results this year, there's a good chance we could see something great.
