Top 10 Storylines Heading Into 2024 GA Outdoor T&F Season

Frederick and Davis Squaring off at Wingfoot last year

7. Will Frederick or Davis be queen of the sprints?

Last year Ryan Davis from Hillgrove was the top girls 200m sprinter and also ran the 9th fastest 100m in Georgia history. Sanaa Frederick of Druid Hills was the top girls 100m sprinter and also ran the 8th fastest 200m in Georgia history. So they split the events last year in terms of who was fastest, but that doesn't mean the same thing will happen again this year. Frederick has a slight edge coming in as she was undefeated in both events last year including winning the only matchup between the two of them at Wingfoot. But Davis is a game competitor too who was also undefeated in every race until she faced Frederick at Wingfoot. They've both done enough to be considered two of the best sprinters Georgia has ever seen. They're both committed to SEC schools and will face off plenty in the next 4-5 years as well. So this season is just for bragging rights. And I love it when that happens. This is their high school swan song and they're probably both really excited to see what kind of legacy they'll end up leaving. I'd love to see them race each other a few times this spring, just as long as they're both healthy in May and June so they can be at their best when it really counts. When they do finally race each other in the postseason, I'll be getting out the popcorn for it, that's for sure.
