Here's a large Aubrae Gunderson photo gallery from the eye of David Heaberlin as teams slogged it on the 'F' course in a downpour.
Marist seems to have run JV at Warpath. St. Pius X, Heritage - Catoosa and North Hall ran very well this past week. The musical chairs from 7-10 continues.
A lot of AAAA girls teams ran on the tough Double Dip course. Most of those AAAA teams there ran real well but Marist's 2nd place finish was very impressive and Woodward showed a lot of improvement this week. Chamblee enters the rankings this week for the first time since the days of Emily Reese.
The competition in AAAA will be quite intense as Marist attempts to defend their team title. Only 4 teams have a real chance at Podium spots and chasing Marist including upstart Baldwin, hometown fave Monroe ALB, Redan and Fayette County
The overall 4A Girls athlete of the week was none other than Venida Fagan of Chamblee HS. At the very competitive and sometimes wild and unpredictable DeKalb County Championships she clocked swift times in the 200/400 meter dashes at 24.81 and 56.42.
Like their boys squad, the Lady War Eagles are 50 points heavy on distance (based on 2 athletes per event competing at Region) But still far ahead as they have great balance in the Field Events. Monroe-Albany is back on the grid after the LC Smith and Wilfred Benson Relays. Shaw HS, Fayette County and Chamblee are bunched together currently.
Marist's Girls are clearly on top of the 4A Girls Team Power Rankings thru week ending 3-18. They have one of the top distance runners in the State as well as the #1 ranked Girls High Jumper in the USA in senior Bailey Weiland (5-11) The War Eagles are a little distance heavy in the points, but well balanced. Chamblee, Monroe-Albany and Shaw round out the top 4 spots. But keep an eye out for Eagle's Landing in the coming weeks... These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We scored 12 deep for individuals and 12 deep for relays. For example, for individuals 1st place received 12 points for their team, on down to 1 point for 12th place.
Here are the 4A Girls Team Power Rankings thru 3-11. Once again, Marist is top heavy in the distance events, though still at the top. Chamblee, and Monroe-Albany are evenly matched with Alexander and Eagle's Landing also looking strong. These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We scored 16 deep for individuals and 16 deep for relays. For example, for individuals 1st place received 16 points for their team, on down to 1 point for 16th place
Angelica Henderson of Chamblee HS Signed her NLI with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to compete in the Sprints.
Parkview's new 250K Recortan track was flat out torched today as existing meet records were shattered in the very unseasonably mild weather (but don't hold your breathe as next weekend looks to be much colder again) Parkview once again demonstrated how to run a high volume meet clicking off heat after heat in timely fashion on a 6-lane track.
