MileSplit has a huge database of performances nationwide that numbers in the tens of millions. We love to utilize this data to generate various rankings, virtual meets, and scoring systems. Many people feel that time-based cross country rankings are worthless. I would disagree with those people and feel it is a valuable tool when used in context. However, obviously is is hard to get an accurate picture by just looking at times with so many variations between courses. We are in the process of deriving a scoring system, the first step of which is to design a statistically sound rating system of thousands of courses nationwide.
Aliyah Abrams qualified in fine style winning her heat in 56.65 in the Youth Girls section of the USATF Junior Olympics Championships being held at Sacremento, California. The Finals are scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM Sunday PDT.
Aliyah Abrams, is 13 years old, and is going to be a rising 8th grader at Bay Creek Middle School in Grayson Georgia. She is an all A's scholar student, with test averages at the highest percentile in her grade. Most recently at the USA Track and Field Association Championship she ran a 54.08 in the 400m dash. It's the fastest time in the country, and if not the fastest time it is one of the fastest times for the 200m dash in her age group in the country, which is a 24.60. She also runs the 100m dash, which helps in other areas. She ran her personal bests in the 400m, 200m, and 100m, and she is 3/10 and some change off of the National record.
Aliyah is coached by Yukima LuSane-Moss who is the Head coach of the Rate of Motion Elite Track Club, in Snellville/Loganville, Ga. Coach Moss has been been training Aliyah for the past 2 years and is only coach that she has ever had. Aliyah has progressed from running 1:09-54.08 in the 400m to her current #1 time in the USA for the Youth age group at 54.08 which is simply sick! Go Aliyah!
