Here are the HS Girls ROWS for Week 2. Erin Fegans is Overall AOW.
East Jackson puts it all together, claiming their first Cross Country State title in school history. Chase Kennedy has the fastest time of the GHSA State Meet.
Here is the AAA State meet preview including Post Region Team Rankings.
(via MileSplit) In Week 8, Coahulla Creek and Union County break into the top 10 in AAA Girls. Pace looked good at Hebron meet.
A strong top 4 squads will lead AAA this Fall including East Jackson, Westminster, Pace and North Hall. Can anyone hang with the Kennedy twins this Fall in AAA?
Let the games begin, as Lovett and Westminster will duke it out once again just like old times. Can 2 Public schools make the Podium again?
Westminster's Girls make it 2 straight titles easily winning the team title, while it was the Sue Ann Morales show in the Individual race.
AAA Boys had their day in the MUD, with the Kennedy twins once again sweeping the top 2 spots and Blessed Trinity repeating as Team Champs.
This year's AAA meet will be very exciting! The forecast calls for mud and AAA will be the 5th and 6th races of the day out of 14 so it will be sloppy, but not as bad as later in the afternoon. When there's this much on the line, nobody cares about the weather, it's GAME ON!! Congratulations to all AAA State qualifiers and good luck on Saturday.
AAA Boys had alot of movement from 6-10 from last week.
The Final Podium spot is wide open in AAA Girls after last week.
AAA Girls is very similar to Boys as Westminster and Blessed Trinity's deep and traditionally strong Girls programs are just on another level than everyone else. Westminster returns everyone and Blessed Trinity their top 6. It will be fun to see if they run heads up before Region as its seems they avoid each other during the regular season. Hart County is a strong 3rd but it would take cloning Audrey Honiotes x 2 to come even close to the Cats and Titans. There seems to be large gaps between other top 10 schools aside from Savannah Arts and Coahulla Creek at 4/5. 8-AAA's Dawson County, Morgan County, Fannin County and East Jackson will fight at Region for State spots. Decatur is a top 10 team early. Pierce County placed 15th at State and's a bit of a mystery due to the courses they compete on during the season. Oconee County graduated their core and after making the Podium in 2014 and will need to rebuild.
3A is loaded Individually as 10 of the top 14 boys from the State meet are set to return headed by defending 3A XC and 3200 Meter Champ Chase Kennedy from East Jackson and his twin bro Chandler Kennedy (2nd in XC, 3rd in 1600) Look for Decatur's Sam Ellis to move up this season after a great Outdoor season in which he swept the 3A 800 and 1600 titles. Oconee boasts a pair of strong individuals led by Michael Hans and Issac Krumm. Blessed Trinity as a trio of speedsters with Ben McCoy, Robby Gipson and Leo Pryor.
The Week 9 ending 10-19 Girls 'Runners of the Week' mostly came from the Coach Wood meet. Its hard to deny Northview's Lindsay Billings yet another 'All-Class' honor as she shattered the old course record with a swift 18:00 defeating Morgan Ilse by 24 seconds.
The Nike-Fleet Coach Wood Invitational produced 5 of the 8 HS Boys for week ending 10-19. Pictured are 5A ROW Christian Bowles and 6A ROW Khayvonn Benson. Reilly Friedman of Galloway was delected as the All-Class 'ROW' after his 1st place effort at Coach Wood in 15:50.
There wasn't much action in 3A this week. It seems as if may teams chose to throw down at practice instead of running in meets. There were some movers though, as Coahulla Creek ran very well on the speedy Baylor course and Hart County's boys moved into the top 10 with a good run at Crow's Lake. The Savannah Arts ladies climbed way up to 5th with their 22:40 average at Richmond Hill. Audrey Honiotes of Hart entered the season as the odds on favorite in 3A, but is seeing serious challenges from a couple of freshman, Delaney Graham of Westminster and Sue Anne Moralis of East Jackson. Honiotes and Moralis had a nice race at Crow's Lake, with Audrey taking the win by :08 seconds. These 3 will be fun to watch at state on November 8th.
Shake up in top 3 of 3A boys. Blessed Trinity takes the top spot after a NARROW head to head victory over East Jackson. If Chase Kennedy runs normal, East Jackson still wins. This is turning into a very close 3 horse race with Westminster, Blessed Trinity, and East Jackson. Westminster girls sent a message and separated a little bit at the top of 3A girls, although the Titans were missing #1. Hart County may well have their best Girls team in school history this Fall.
3A was much like Class 4A, except there was a wee bit of movement here and there...Both Coahulla Creek squads moved up after performing well at a Chattanooga Area League XC Meet hosted by Heritage-Catoosa. Gordon Central's Girls moved back into the rankings after Ridge Ferry. I see a big showdown brewing at Region between Westminster and Blessed Trinty....
As the regular season approaches the midway point, 3A boys is becoming very competitive once again. The 3A Boys Outdoor overall 'AOW' goes to Marquice Dye from Elbert County. At the Jefferson Relays he turned in the top 100m and 110 hudles performances of the season for 3A at 10.85 and 14.55...
