Girls HJ Carlin Light, N. Forsyth, has already gone 5’4” this season. But Olivia Hewitt, Westminster, and Kaylin Dickerson, Chapel Hill both cleared 5’4” and should create quite a competition. Girls LJ Indiah Bell, Parkview, has the top jump in the State, 18’ 5” however she will be pushed to the limit with the likes of Kendall Williams, Kell, and her teammate Alexis Jones-Hardy. Girls PV There is quite a bit if experience in this event with the 2010 State Champions in AAAAA , Samantha Becker, AAAA Caroline Evans, Starr’s Mill and AAA Danielle Penk, St. Pius, all present for an awesome night of vaulting. In the camaraderie that is often present hopefully these ladies along with elite vaulter Caroline Bond, GACS, can motivate each other to incredible new heights!! Girls Discus Taylor Dupont, Starr’s Mill, Shelby Ashe, St, Pius, fresh off her National Championship/RECORD last weekend in the weight throw and Monica Phillips, Pope, (2010 5th AAAA) should make it a very interesting completion as the throwers transition from the weighted throws to the discus. Girls Shot Same crew of throwers from the discus will again challenge each other on Saturday morning. Girls TJ Mia Adams, Eagles Landing (Pr 38-2), Sarah Hutchinson, Pope (2010 4th AAAAA)and India Hammond of Redan will lead the field in the Triple Jump. 100 hurdles Track fans, We are truly blessed to have the opportunity to see THE best hurdlers that state of Georgia has ever had in Kendall Williams. She has already run 13.99 in 2010 after winning State in AAAAA last year in a PR of 13.57. The rest of the field is also competitive with the likes of Michaela Greer, Walton, and newcomer Shanel Burr, North Cobb. 100 The top seed is Brianna Vaughn of Union Grove who has run 11.97. Charisma Green, Redan, has a PR of 12.05 and conditions could be right at this meet for her to break the 11.0 barrier? She will be challenged by Janica Davis of Smith Station and Maia Booker of West Hall. 4X16 Harrison has run the best 4X16 so far this season however numerous other teams will compete for the title. Marist (AAAA XC State Champions), Collins Hill (AAAAA XC 4th place)Lakeside Evans (3rd AAAA XC) Westminster( AA State Champions) will make this any exciting race to watch. SMR and 4X1 Redan should literally run away with it if seed times hold up as they hold one of the fastest 4X1 times of the year. Other impressive sprint team should include Collins Hill, Smith Station, Walton and Starrs Mill. 4x4 Always an exciting event, Redan again has the fastest time with 3:53 however Smith Station and Collins HIll could also challenge 4:00 and make the race exciting. 3200 WOW, What a stacked event for the ladies that will feature 2010 3200 State Champions: Anna Bowles Lakeside Evan(AAAA), Allie Schaich , Lambert (AAA and meet record holder in the 1600) and Sahara Fletcher , Westminster (AA) and Grace Tinkey, First Presbyterian, (A and Footlocker National Finalist)>. Also entered in this GREAT event are Annie Kelly, Milton, Katie Townsend, Lakeside Evans, Sophia Harkins, Marist, Marcie Merriman, Lassiter, and Erin Osment of St. Pius. Get your seat early for this race as it may just be one of the best of the season!!!!!!!!!!! Girls 4X8 The fastest seed time has been turned in by Lakeside Evans with the9:38 which would place them on the all time list of greats. Other strong teams include Collins Hill, Walton, North Gwinnett and Milton. Boys LJ Diavone smith, Redan, Chris Foster, Walton, Myles Everett, Pope, and Malcolm Davis should contented for the LJ title with the possibility of a 24’ jump. Boys Discus Cedric Stadom, Lassiter, comes into the meet with the State’s top performance however Courtland Garrett, Pope, and McCair Head, 2010 AAAA 5th from Whitewater 155’ ,have looked good in the early part of the season and could be contenders. Boys HJ Malcolm Davis, (2010 6th AAAAA) from Norcross is the best seed this year but newcomer BailyVitatoe, Brookwood, and Billy Wright, Eagles Landing AAA 2010 4th, will enhance the completion and push the bar up to 6’6” . Boys PV Nikita Kirilov, St Pius, has the nationally ranked top Georgia height of 16’8” Other noteworthy vaulters include Eli Sumner, Tift County 13’ , Justin Grose, Brookwood14’4” , and Nathan Daniel 13’ 1”, Marist. Boys TJ Miles Slay, Pope, had turned one of the year’s top jumps of 44’ 7.5” however he will have to be at his best as Stafford McCurry (2010 State Runner-up AAA) , North Oconee, has a season best 44’2” but has jumped nearly 46’ and will provide all the competition needed for some great performances. Jeff Green, Starr’s Mill , could also figure into the mix. Boys Shot Jordan Chambers from Kell(2010 AAAAA 3rd) continues to be the dominant force in the Shot with a season best of 54’ 3” Pope’s Courtland Garrett (2010 6th AAAAA) and McClain Head, 2010 AAAA State Runner up 54’, Whitewater, will all push each other to the limit. Boys 110 hurdles Jordan Moore, Union Grove, (2010 State Champion AAAAA)is far and away the fastest seed in the hurdles but the Brookwood tandem of Paul Beaty and William Smith should make for an exciting final on Saturday! Boys 100 This race will showcase 9 athletes with sub 11.0 verified performances . Don’t blink or you may miss something here. Boys 3200 Nathan Vassay, Brookwood, has run 9:30 however Zack Sims, Eagle’s Landing (2010 AAA 3rd) will come in with the year’s best performance of 9:32. Other athletes who will make this race interesting include Justin Weaver, Pickens County, Steve Spevacek, Parkview, Austin Ulrich, Chattahoochee, and Andrew Gonzalez, Collins Hill. 2000 Steeplechase Athens Christian, Josiah Jenkins, will be the man to beat as he is a proven steeplechaser. Other contenders could include Collin’s Hill’s Justin Phillip, Pope’s Justin Howell and Chris Stuart, Boys 4X16 After Brookwood rocked the State record books last year with a new State record of 17:20 they return this year after another successful State championship in XC to defend their title. Other elite teams include State AA XC State Champions Westminster, AAA Champions St. Pius , AAAA State Champions Marist. 4X100 and SMR Smith Station is coming off a great performance at the 2010 Alabama State Championships and will contend for both the spring relay titles. Of course Redan and Union Grove will have their own ideas about taking the sprint titles. 4X8 Some great performances so far this season from Pope High School, who has the meet’s top seed, Brookwood, Chapel Hill, Westminster, and Eagle’s Landing. 4X4 Redan will lead the way after finishing 4th in AAAAA in 2010, 3:16, however as always this exciting event will have showcase some of the best athletes around with Smith’s Station, Chapel Hill and West Forsyth all vying for the title.
