The Athens Academy girls cross country team raced to a victory in their first meet of the season.  Hosted by Athens Academy, the race was a 3 kilometer race with five schools attending. 

   The 5th Annual NEGA Championships have come full circle featuring the top teams in NE GA with a "Festival-Like" atmosphere with an Army of dedicated volunteers providing an enjoyable, yet competitive event without alot of intense pressure. Competitors, parents, and fans even cheer on runners from all teams, appreciating the efforts and many miles put in by all of the competitors.

  (Fountain in the 100 hurdles in Beijing - photo courtesy of PhotoRun.net) Hyleas Fountain, a 2000 grad of Central Dauphin EAST high school in Harrisburg, a graduate of the University of Georgia who trains in Kettering, Ohio, moves up to the Silver medal instead of the Bronze medal she had been awarded in the Heptathlon on Day Two of the Track & Field competiton in Beijing, China.

  Area HS Cross Country coaches respond to questions of: How they have handled the heat? What kind of turnouts have they had for this coming season? In general, what kind of shape are there squads in? Who we might look out for this coming season, including newcomers and even freshman? Were they excited about about the oncoming season and did they have any early season goals or objectives.  A big thanks to you all for contributing. 

These are the "Official" 2008 Pre-Season Cross Country Rankings that will be sent to Media Outlets Throughout the State. It was decided the Power Rankings would be used by the Rankings Commitee . There were a few small changes made in AA, AAA and AAAA due to "local" knowledge and inside info.
