With a break from the XC Gods the rain magically stopped before racing began and held off till the Awards as 300 MS athletes splished &splashed their way around the ACS course Saturday morning with Lovinggood's Girls & Malcom
The inaugural Wingfoot XC Classic was a memorable event for participants and spectators. Persistent rain created messy conditions in Cartersville’s Sam Smith Park, but those in attendance embraced the atmosphere and celebrated runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. In fact, some runners were excited to run in the mud and said it made the day even more fun.
With Middle Schoolers running so many different length courses (2 Mile, 3200, 3000) its hard to gauge who the fastest MS Boys are, so I am including a 'Fast 50' for each distance in this version week ending 9-13. Let's keep in mind its been confirmed that NEGA and Fall Run Away 3000's were both a little short...and Lee County Invite has been noted as short or extremely fast...(Image by Dan McCauley)
This week begins with ga.milesplit's Middle School 'Runners of the Week' It needs to be understood that courses vary in distance, terrain and difficulty and these selections are made as objectively as possible..but several 'honorable mentions' are chosen as well. For the MS Boys Sean Rager of the Alpha Crush is MS Boys 'ROW' after his performance at Warpath Invitational.

Granted, the weather was very kind until about 11am and almost all the athletes surely took advantage. Anyone who's not new to the Sport, knows the Bob Blastow layout at Clinton Farms is a fast trail, but NEGA and the Our Lady of Mercy course both got torched as well. The River Green Parkway also has a reputation as a fast and flat course (venue of the 2 Mile Stage Races) Westminster hosted the Kosh Classic and that course has a rep as being tough...
