Is it already Region time and the answer to that was 1-AAAAAA being decided down in Moultrie (Colquitt County) Thursday and 4 others kick off Saturday as well as Last Chance Carrollton. Top 4 teams qualify for State and the first 6 Individuals regardless if their team doesn't make it in.
It was a long day of racing and perhaps a few tempo runs at Carrollton Last Chance as evidenced by a few of the top athletes competing. Nineteen 1A & 2A schools were registered for the early and chilly 8:00am Boys start. However, only nine started with the others opting to run in later races. Galloway Boys proved they are title contenders beating several ranked squads. Friedman strolled to 1st in 16:47. Landmark's Girls (sans Kathryn Foreman who is nursing an injury) won the Girls race with Nicole Fegans and Sarah Foreman taking 1st and 2nd.

5A schools met some small school competition as schools are allowed to run up at Last Chance. Forsyth Central warmed up for Region winning the Boys race over A Private Athens Academy and Jones County. The Athens Academy Girls were not as kind winning the Girls race beating 4A ranked Columbus by 11 points showing steady improvement all season long and could give Landmark a race for their money in 2 weeks. Anna Marion Block from AA and Justin Weegar of Evans (pictured) were Overall winners.
Those tricky AA Girls schools....ran up in the 3A- 4A races with Lovett and Wesleyan's Girls having a pre-State 'scout' of each other 2 weeks befote the 'Big Dance' at 12:40pm. Serena Tripodi and Jenna Gearing dueled for the Overall w/ Triodi winning by :20 in 19:28.. What was interesting if one looks at results, is Wesleyan proved they can run with Lovett and if 2 of Wesleyan's girls can best their counterpart on Lovett's squad its going to be CLOSE. White's Girls edged Woodward by 9 points. Westminster's Boys upended 4A power North Hall by 2 points showing late signs they will be in the mix w/ East Jackson and Blessed Trinity at State. Quintin Miles and Corson Teasley swept the top 2 spots for North Hall.
