The Middle School Track Championships was an all day affair filling the home side stands with screaming student-athletes and parents alike with fans mashed together hanging over the railings to get a glimpse of the future HS stars in Georgia Track. Oak Hill MS of Baldwin County are the Girls Team Champions and Hilsman MS from Athens are the Boys Team Champions.The stars of the meet for the Girls were 'Athlete of the Meet' Tia Jones of Full Throttle as she tripled in the 100/200/100 hudles, Anna Marion Block as she doubled in the 800/1600 and Sterling Lester from Marietta as she doubled in the 400m/300h. For the Boys Justin Long of Tucker MS was the Boys 'Athlete of the Week' sweeping the 200/400 and anchoring the 4x100 team to 1st. Griffin McCauley is 'Mr.Distance' as he set a new record in the 3200m Friday at 10:14, placed 2nd in the 1600, and 4th in the 800m.

Day 1 of the MS State Championships got off to a good start as 56 teams and over 1000 athletes began competition in some Track prelims, Field Event finals and the 3200 meter Finals. SMART event management has ran the meet since its inception serving as Georgia's 'unofficial' MS State Track and Field Championships. Griffin McCauley of Paideset a new MS state meet record in the Boys 3200 clocking a 10:14 and Sophie West of Paideia took the Gold in the Girls race in 11:13.
