MS State Championships Day 1

                                                                       MS State Championships Day 1 Report

Day 1 of the MS State Championships got off to a good start as 56 teams and over 1000 athletes began competition in some Track prelims, Field Event finals and the 3200 meter Finals.  SMART event management has ran the meet since its inception serving as Georgia's 'unofficial' MS State Track and Field Championships.

One of the feature distance events is the 3200 meters, which is being contested at more MS meets every season. Paideia swept the events as Sophie West clocked a fast time of 11:13.  Sarah Foreman of Landmark nipped 6th grader Sydney Runyan of Etowah TC, both crossing the finish in 11:30.   In the boys race Griffin McCauley (also of Paideia) was too strong for a talented field setting a new meet record clocking a 10:14 winning by over 100 meters. Adan Rodriquez from Dalton placed 2nd in 10:34.

In Friday's session of Field Events big marks were achieved by Oak Hill's Brittany Trawick as she won the Girls Tj in 33-08. Serenity Vaughn of the Georgia Rush won the Gold in the Shot Put with a toss of 36-11.  In the MS Boys Field Events Cameron Murray (unattached) wa 1 Resultss your Long Jump champ with a leap of 18-11.  In the HJ competition 3 athletes cleared bars of 5-6, but the judges decision came down to fewer misses with Chandler Hubbard of Coosa MS taking the title.  Also clearing 5-6 were Jalen Stuckey of Miller Grove MS and Paris Howland from Westminster.  Athens Christian always has throwers are competitve and Addison Brown will take the Gold back to ACS with a winning toss of 133-0
