Bayshore senior Canaan Meester-Kitterman capped off his final cross country season with a sixth place showing at the state meet. Recently, he announced he will head north to Savannah and run for Savannah College of Art & Design where he will be joined by former Florida standout Ace Brown. It was a great 2012-2013 in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. Many of our seniors will soon be on their way to start their college careers both athletically and academically so we wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature.
Fort Myers senior Ace Brown spent his Friday evening chasing down competition in the 1600 meters at the 52nd Annual Fort Myers Edison Relays He finished second with a new personal best time of 4:27.15. Thirteen hours later he was racing again, but not in his Green Wave uniform. Brown headed to Estero for the Susan G. Komen Southwest Florida Race For A Cure. It was his seventh time running the event in seven years. He says he started as a 6th grader when he attended Canterbury.
Fort Myers senior Ace Brown took his time with the college recruiting process. During his official visits to USF, UNF, UF, FSU, and SCAD and unofficial visits to Appalachian State and South Carolina Upstate, Brown had the opportunity to meet a variety of coaches, campuses, and fellow runners. With six offers in hand, Brown says the final decision came down to which school he felt the most at home.
