AJC Peachtree Road Race Draws Both High School Talent and Elites from Around the World

Lottery registration for the AJC Peachtree Road Race is now open. Those wishing to be one of the 60,000 participants selected for the 2016 event must register before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 at AJC.com/peachtree. Regardless of when you register, you will have an equal chance of being selected. All entrants will be notified via email whether or not they were selected by Friday, March 25.

The AJC Peachtree Road Race draws elite runners from around the world as well as runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, including Georgia's high school running talent. Some of the state's top high school athletes have competed well at Peachtree. Excluding Girma Mecheso of Berkmar's 2008 performance of 30:16, most of the top high school times have been recorded over the past three years, by All-Metro Cross Country and Track athletes. Here is a list of the top 10 times since 2013.

The AJC Peachtree Road Race is organized by Atlanta Track Club, which honors outstanding high school athletes at its All-Metro High School Cross Country and Track and Field Banquets. The organization also hosted the inaugural Wingfoot XC Classic in 2015 in Cartersville, where middle and high school teams competed on the same course as a community race.
