Its shaping up to be a 'redo' between Region 6 foes Blessed Trinity, Pius and Woodward Academy. The difference maker is going to be who got out of Sectionals in good shape for these teams.  North Oconee has their strongest team in years and could be in the hunt for a Podium spot. Maynard Jackson, Franklin County, Decatur and SE Bulloch should all be players for a top 4 team finish

The AAA Region Championships 'Athletes of the Week' are Bailey Willett of Blessed Trinity after she ran a smokin' 2:14 in the 800m at 6-AAA, and throws 'Specialist' Daniel Haugh from St.Pius X as he doubled in both events, including unleashing yet another awesome toss of 187-9 in the Discus. 

The 3A Girls have definitely heated up this past week as this classification the past couple of years has been very competitive. She has been selected as a category winner before, but this week Kendsey Chappelear from Franklin County has been selected as the overall 3A Girls 'AOW' after 2 splendid performances at the Golden Corner Invite in South Carolina.  It seems Kendsey has been doing more speed training which has paid off in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. 

Marist's girls continued to put up big marks and fast races, especially Morgan Ilse who is currently ranked 13th in the MileSplit National rankings after her 10:43 at the crazy St.Pius X Meet #3. However, the overall 'Athlete of the Week' is Jahari Williams of Monroe-Albany after her performance in the short sprints at her home track down in Albany at the LC Smith and Benson Relays.  

Bailey Willett of Blessed Trinity High School has signed her national letter of intent to run Track and Field for Georgia Southern University. Bailey has been state champion in the 400m (2012). She was apart of the team cross country state winning team(2013).  

What a magnificent race Blessed Trinity's girls had as they had taken it on the chin all season from region 6 rival and defending 2012 champ St.Pius and brought it when it mattered most with the first major upset of the day seizing the AAA title. Jenna Gearing was too strong for anyone after the first loop winning the AAA girls individual in 19:29 leading White County to a 3rd place Podium spot holding pace the entire race.

The AAA Girls of course will follow the Boys race and conditions at the bottom half of the hour will warm a few degrees as the sun rises over the trees, with the wind beginning to pickup to 7mph. Will Blessed Trinity push St.Pius X? Can anyone challenge Jenna Gearing of White County?
