#9 North Gwinnett Boys upset #6 Lassiter at Westover Invitational

In a bit of an upset, the #9 ranked North Gwinnett boys pulled off a big win over the #6 ranked boys from Lassiter at the Westover Invitational. Despite trailing at the 1 and 2 positions, North Gwinnett used great races from their 3,4 and 5 runners to hold on for the win. Adam Williams and Alex Kaas, of North Gwinnett, went 7 and 8 posting times of 16:49 and 16:54 respectively. Lassiter countered with Matt Cheij and Drew Jones , finishing 4th and 5th in 16:31 and 16:38 respectively. The win came about for North through the efforts of their 4 and 5 runners. as Michael McHugh, of North, and Alastair Swan, of Lassiter were virtually dead even at the 3 spot for both teams. Roman Drankin and Nate DosSantos of North were both able to finish in the top 22, posting times of 17:06 and 17:09 respectively while Lassiter\'s Thomas Anderson and Joe Fulton finished 25th and 29th. North was able to place two more runners on the fifth place Fulton to secure the win for the Bulldogs in a great team match up. Interestingly enough, Lassiter\'s team average of 16:57 was nearly 3 seconds ahead of North Gwinnett\'s 17:00 average to show how close these two teams were to each other. Norcross, Northgate and Lovett rounded out the top 5 teams but all were well back from the equally impressive front runners.

Inidividually, Nick Pierce, of Westover, was the top finisher in 16:09, while Marc Loman of Lee Co. finished as the runner up in 16;25. Bill Bazzell of Lovett was a close 3rd i n16:26.
