Maurice Gleaton Makes History - Runs 9.98 In The 100m

The headline says it all. Maurice Gleaton has gone under the 10 second barrier in the 100m dash. The Langston Hughes senior has been quiet since running 10.01 in mid March as he was being cautious with his races to make sure he stayed healthy.

But today it was time to run. And he just ran faster than ever before in the state of Georgia, lowering his own state record to a time of 9.98 seconds at the GHSA 5A Region 3 Meet.

The time is now the 2nd fastest wind legal time in high school history. His wind reading today was 0.0.

This mark is probably the greatest track and field performance in state history. And may remain that way for a very, very long time. Unless of course Mr. Gleaton himself can lower it even further.

Take a bow, Maurice. Soak it in. That's amazing.
