The Case for Isis Symone Grant 2022 Best Performance

Isis Symone Grant, the rising senior from Sandy Creek, is one of the four finalists in the vote for the best performance from the 2022 Georgia Outdoor Track and Field Season. We will be running a piece today on each athlete detailing why you should vote for them. Here is the case to be made for Grant.

She's the only junior left in the voting. Being an entire year younger than your competition and still accomplishing the same things as them is worthy of recognition. The reality is that all of us are really excited to see what she does next year as a senior (and what she does later this Summer). But let's just take some time to appreciate what she was able to do this year as a junior. And it's worth noting that Grant not only broke the state record outdoors this year, she also broke it during the indoor season as well, making her the fastest Georgia girl 800m runner ever under any circumstances.

And just like her competitors on this final round of voting, Grant is not a one trick pony. She also excelled in the 400m dash to go along with her state record in the 800. She was undefeated in the 400 this year and ran a PR of 55.67. She tackled the very difficult 400/800 double and came up just short at state but has been on a tear in the post season ever since, winning Running Lane and then breaking the state record at New Balance Outdoor. Quite a feat for the young mid distance star. Or perhaps we should call her a long sprints star given what she's accomplished. No matter how you slice it she was one of the best this year. And her state record in the 800 is worthy of how far it made it in this voting.
