The 12th Annual Big Orange Relays was in the spotlight this weekend as the two-day affair was the MileSplit Georgia featured 'Meet of the Week'. 39 MileSplit Elite performances were achieved and the Girls 1600 saw the St. Pius X Lady Golden Lions shattering the 2018 South Forsyth girls all-time leading time by going a new Georgia #1 All-time record-setting performance in the 4x1600m relay of 20:26.92.

Blessed Trinity's ladies had a great time as well, going 20:41.22 (GA #3 All-Time). The Marist ladies ran 21:02.58 cracking the GA All-time top 10 lists at #9. Parkview won the boy's team title scoring 111 points winning 3 relays, Cody Brown won the Discus with a toss of 150-10 and placed 2nd in the Shot, and Bryce Fleetwood won the high jump with a clearance of 6-6. Lambert's girls edged Woodward Academy by 1 point for the top girl's team hardware. The Longhorns only won one event led by thrower Morgan Gore who won the Discus with a mark of 99-9, while placing 2nd in the Shot.

Head Coach & Meet Director commented after the meet, "Last year was supposed to be the first edition of the Friday night/Saturday format so our staff was eager to see how it would go with the GCPS Covid protocols. In years past, this meet has been very big with incredible performances, but this year's definitely had the feel of an elite invitational. Seeing the fields of premiere 4x1600m races live with the performances from a who's who of distance programs was amazing.

I think the 39 elite performances from a host of the attending schools speak volumes.  We would have liked it to be a little warmer on Saturday early, but the competition heated things up very quickly. We are already looking forward to next year's edition and hope that the product Parkview Track & Field offers brings more great programs into the mix to win some custom batons which have become a huge hit over the years with kids and coaches."
