Wayne County Boys Roll at Home Meet 10-22

Wayne County Boys Roll at Home Meet 10-22

For these SE Georgia teams, this meet served as a warmup for Regions. Wayne County came close to perfect scoring the Boys race with 17 points. South Effingham took the Girls title scoring 43 points. Beau Brooks of Wayne won the boys individual crown in 16:37 and Miracle Stanley of host Wayne Co. claimed the girls overall title clocking a 20:09. On a rainy cool day.  being the last regular season meet, Wayne County's boys wanted to send a message to the rest of AAAA .  Being dropped from the rankings was very motivating and the Yellow Jackets ran with a vengeance  finishing the season with 114 wins and ZERO losses (at least 45 different teams) including 4 Invitationals, beginning with Savannah, that included several north Georgia teams. Beau Brooks took off at the gun and never looked back.  Johnathon Dunn gave a good chase, with Nathan Dukes following close behind.  Wayne's goal was a perfect 15, but Bradwell Institute was able to get a man in the mix.  Will Miller and freshman, Gorge Tlacuatl put up a good fight and made it exciting. Miracle Stanley was unbeatable, as she was running in honor of her great uncle, who is dying of cancer.

Boys

Wayne County scorched the field scoring 17 points as their top 5 consumed the first 6 places for a Region tuneup. Wayne has been very strong the past couple weeks and could challenge for a Podium spot at State based on their SE Georgia performances. Carrollton however has proven to be a nasty beast...Beau Brooks of Wayne won the boys individual crown in 16:37 and was followed by his running mates Johnathon Dunn in 2nd at 17:07 and Nathan Dukes in 3rd at 17:17. Tattnall County was a very distant 2nd place.

Girls

Miracle Stanley of Wayne Co. did not run last weekend, but came back strong seizing the overall title clocking a 20:09 (All season Wayne has been unable to field a Girls team sadly) South Effingham won the team honors scoring 43 points behind Nicole Larson's 3rd place effort in 20:59.  Caroline Trexler of McIntosh County Academy placed 2nd in 20:29. Bradwell Institute grabbed 2nd in a 6th runner tiebreaker over Richmond Hill for 2nd.
