Hubers runs state best 9:05.89 to win 3200 over Heller!

Ben Hubers ran a state best 9:05.89 to take top honors in the 3200. The addition of mystery man Girma Mecoheso made this an interesting match up as Jay Heller and Ben Hubes have already put on a display earlier this season in the Cobb Co. Championships and the addition of a possible 3rd member of the group had everyone anticipating this race. Hubers took it out quick in the first mile, with a 64 opener and paced the first mile out in 4:29. That was enough to take the starch out of the field and enabled Hubers to post a 10 second win over Heller to avenge his earlier loss. Girma Mecoheso finished 3rd in 9:28.17 to Heller\'s 9:15.99. Nathan Frasier also took advantage of the fast field and poted a season best 9:28.54 for fourth place, just ahead of Brian Potts in 9:29.60.

In AAAA action, Ian Turnbull of Marist took top honors in the only final of the day, posting a 9:36.60 to win over Chase Eldredge of Chapel Hil in 9:43.85. Nick Long, of North Hall, helped his team to a 2nd place finish at the end of day 2 with his win in the 3200 in 9:51.05. In AA, John Vernon, of Grady, won a close match up with Ty Shelton, of Greater Atlanta Christian, coming out on top with a 10:00.07 to Shelton\'s 10:01.53. And in A action, Chad Thames of Landmark Christian, posted a 9:58.84 to win over Taylor Kellog of Athens Christian.
