Wolverine Invitational Preview

By Coach Kirk Scharich

Woodstock will be hosting the 9th annual Wolverine Invitational this Saturday. We are excited to welcome such a great field again this year. Spectators will be able to view all results on the giant Jumbo- Tron. In addition to all the great races and events, we are lucky enough to have J.B. flipping burgers for us again this year!  You can't lose with great weather, fabulous athletes, and one of J.B's burgers.  Come on out for a great day!

Boys

Hurdles- Latrell Murray of Luella comes into the meet with the fastest 110 hurdle time of 14.30 and a 37.85 300 hurdles.

Distance- Zach Cantrell comes into the meet with the best times in the 800 and 1600 meter. Look for Woodstock's Austin Bailey and Allatoona's duo of Hernanadez and Klapper to challenge for the title.

Shot/Discus- North Springs' Scott Fineberg will be looking to throw over 50 in the shot.  Richard McRae leads the discus field with a 137 feet toss.

Pole vault- looks like we might see a few guys go over 14 ft with Thomas Jolly of Woodland and Peyton Neidhammer of River Ridge.

Sprints- Looks to have a strong field with a 21.5 300 time from Jacob Smith of Allatoona.

Girls

Sprints- The ladies sprints will be very fast tomorrow with North Springs' Destiny Jackson in the 100/200. Look for her to get pushed by McEachern's duo of Nilaja Florence and Sequoya Hunter as well as her teammate Saran Kouyeth.

Hurdles- Will see the state's top time in the 300 hurdles Jayda Drake-Howard of North Springs. Look for Rayna Whyte of McEachern to be in the mix for the 100 hurdle title.

400 meter- will be a highly contested race with 7 runners under 59 seconds led  Kennedy Crawford of North Springs with a 56.26.

Distance- The distance races will be highlighted by Creekview's freshman xc state champion Nyah Hernandez who looks to break 5 minutes in the 1600 meter. Woodstock's Anna Burnett  and Kell's Olivia Terwilliger will look to chase for the title.

Long Jump/Triple Jump - With 6 girls over 17 feet and Ada Moony of Luella looking to go over 19 feet tomorrow should spark a lot of interest on the infield. Look for Royce Johnson of McEachern to go 40 feet in the triple jump.
