SPECIAL NOTES FOR CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Coaches and teams, a lot of trash has been left in the team tent areas

that staff must pick up after the meet. PLEASE clean up after yourselves; check

your area after you have packed up, and leave the park better than you found

it. Thank you! We also have several items left at previous meets: water

bottles, sneakers, clothing, and AirPods. We will have a "Lost and

Found" bin at the City Champs at the Packet Pickup Tent. If items go

unclaimed after 10/1/24, they will be donated.

COURSE INFORMATION: NEW LOCATION AND COURSE FOR 2024

City Championships will be held on TUESDAY, October 1st

at Piedmont Park. The City Championships course starts in the iconic Piedmont

Park Meadow.Athletes will take an opening

lap around the Meadow before heading into the main lap, which traverses Oak

Hill, which is the southwestern portion of the park along 10th Street.

High School athletes will run two main laps around Oak Hill and the Meadow and

then finish. Middle School athletes will run one slightly larger main lap

around Oak Hill and Meadow and then finish. Construction in the park limits our

access to the southeastern-most tip of the park. Please reference the attached

map for locations of team tent areas, team packet pickup, awards, merchandise,

and more.

Please examine

the attached map and thoroughly explain the course to your athletes.

Communicate the required number of laps to your athletes and keep track of them

during the race. Runners who do not complete the required number of laps

will be disqualified.

BUS UNLOADING/LOADING AND PARKING/TEAM ENTRY

BUSES THAT NEED PARKING can enter the park through the 10th

Street and Charles Allen gate. They will be directed by race officials to park

along the curbs identified on the event map. Once parked, the team can unload

and the bus will remain in this location until departure time.Departing buses will drive through the park

to the 12th Street gate exit, and turn right (one way) onto Piedmont

Ave. EXIT signage will help guide buses to the proper exit.

NOTE: Buses MAY NOT EXIT the park via Park Drive; the weight of the buses exceeds the bridge

limit!

BUSES THAT ARE DROPPING OFF ONLY and do not need parking shall approach

the park via Charles Allen Drive. Refer to the event map. Buses can pull along

the curb on Charles Allen Drive near 10th Street, and a police

officer will be at the 10th Street/Charles Allen crossing to ensure

athletes safety. Buses returning for pickup will come back to Charles Allen

Drive to meet their team. A legal offsite parking option is in front of Atlanta

Track Club: 201 Armour Drive NE. This offsite parking option is 3.1 miles from

the Meadow. Unloading/loading on 10th street is NOT PERMITTED.

SPECTATOR PARKING

We recommend that spectators use the Sage Parking

Deck
or Park

Tavern parking lot
. Regular parking rates apply during the event.

Spectators may also find legal street parking.DO NOT park in the Trader Joe's parking lot; cars will be towed.

TEAM TENT AREA

For the safety of our runners and spectators, we have

identified a Team Tent Area on the event map. We would like teams to set up

INSIDE the race course to minimize the number of course crossings necessary.

COURSE WARMUP

It's highly recommended that your team arrive with enough

time to warm up on the course prior to the start of the first race. Once the

first race commences, athletes are no longer permitted to warm up on the course.

If you and your team arrive after the start of the first race, we suggest

warming up outside of the racing venue on the park paths.

PACKET PICKUP

Team packet pickup location is designated on the map. Please

note that packets will be prepared only for teams who have fully registered

their individuals through GA Milesplit according to the deadline.

FINISH LINE, FOOD AND FLUIDS

The finish line and chute area are for finishers and event

staff only. This area will be clearly marked. We ask that coaches and

spectators refrain from entering the chute. Food and fluids provided are for

finishers only. Once finishers exit the chute, they will not be permitted to

re-enter.

TIMING & RESULTS

Timing and scoring of the event will be done by Perfect

Timing Group.  Live results links will be available during the event.

Again, we ask that coaches help event organizers by counting the laps of your

athletes and making sure your athletes complete the required number of laps.

Should they not complete their laps, please notify an event official or the

timer immediately.

AWARDS

Middle School: the middle school awards ceremony will

begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. The Top 10 boys and Top 10 girls will be

awarded an engraved medal. The Top 3 boys teams and top 3 girls teams will receive

trophies.

High School: The Top 3 boys teams and Top 3 girls

teams will be awarded trophies. The Top

10 boys and Top 10 girls we receive awards, as well.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING

Teams shall follow the principles of "Leave No Trace:"

Please pack out what you pack in and bring trash bags, etc. We

will have some small trash receptacles onsite for spectator garbage and water

bottle recycling. We want to leave this event space BETTER than we found it!

Please encourage your athletes and spectators to help us clean up trash.

VOLUNTEERS AND TEAM SUPPORT NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to make this a safe, enjoyable event.

Interested parties can

register here
to volunteer.  Volunteers receive a small gift as a

token of appreciation.

At the conclusion of the event, we ask the remaining teams

and spectators to please lend a helping hand! Many hands make light work, and

we are short on daylight. Teams can help us break down by carrying equipment to

our truck: fencing, bins, cones, tables, etc. Find an event staffer in a red

shirt and ask how you can help!
