Varsity Girls Championship Race
Region meets began today for 1A Private down in Macon with Area 1 Private . These results will reflect in the 'Final' rankings before State. Athens Academy keeps getting stronger and closing the gap on Landmark's girls and with Kathryn Foreman possibly not running this Saturday could leap over Landmark in the 'Final' pre-State rankings. Alot of Girls squads moved up including Galloway, Whitefield, Mount De Sales and Mount Pisgah. Hebron Christian remained atop the Boys rankings, but moving up were Athens Academy, Paideia and Stratford. I suspect there will be more movement after taking Region into account.
The 8-A Private Championship was everything it was billed up to be with a surprise or two and some hearts were broken as well. Hebron Christian's boys and Athens Academy's Girls looked very strong winning the team titles with State a week away. Trent Johnson led Hebron's boys and Anna Marion Block the Spartan girls as both ran to Individual titles.
