This past week's 6A 'Runners of the Week' had outstanding races on Saturday at different venues. West Forsyth's John Green worked his magic at Double Dip and Lindsay Billings from Northview ripped apart the 'Covered Bridge' course in Roswell finishing :06 behind Emma Grace Hurley of FCS. .
Warmer temperatures offset any potential time gains on the new course layout at Covered Bridge, but some runners and teams seemed undeterred as a new course record was set in the girls’ race. Over 1400 runners competed in 6 races, with the varsity races and the middle school races all having a few individuals turning in outstanding performances as they considerably outran the field.
This year’s edition of Covered Bridge features a reconfigured 2 lap course with the potential to post faster times than ever. Given that the course has fewer twists and turns, if weather is good times should approach course records. Add to that a strong field, especially in the girls’ race and the outlook is great for some exceptional performances.
