Georgia Girls Outdoor Track and Field Early Season Leaders

The 2026 Georgia outdoor track and field season has hit the ground running with explosive performances across the state. From the MTFXCCGA Invitational to the Atlanta Games, the early marks are already among the best in the nation.

Based on the latest MileSplit GA rankings, here are 12 girls who have established themselves as the true state leaders in the opening weeks of the 2026 season.


The Sprint Stars

Mina Lovelace (McEachern): The sophomore sensation is the undisputed speed queen of the early season. Lovelace swept the 100m (11.47) and 200m (23.83) at the MTFXCCGA Invitational, posting times that currently lead the entire state and rank among the nation's elite.

Carrington Harris (Buford): Proving she is one of the most versatile athletes in Georgia, Harris leads the state in the 400m with a blistering 53.65 from the MTFXCCGA Invitational. She also holds a top-tier mark in the Long Jump (18-01.50).

Moriah Campbell (Landmark Christian): Campbell continues her dominance in the hurdles. She clocked a state-leading 13.62 in the 100m Hurdles at the MTFXCCGA Invitational and has already shown flashes of brilliance in the 300m hurdles as well.

Sole Bailey (Jackson County): Bailey currently holds the state's top FAT mark in the 300m Hurdles with a 42.52 set at the Classic City Invitational.


The Distance Queens

Morgan Means (Heritage Conyers): Means took control of the middle-distance rankings at the Atlanta Games Invitational, running a season-best 2:13.51 in the 800m to claim the #1 spot in Georgia.

Effie Ward (Harris County): Ward showed incredible range early on, posting a 4:42.37 in the 1500m at the MTFXCCGA Invitational, signaling she is the distance runner to beat as the season progresses toward the 1600m championships. 

Liliana Beemer (Evans): Beemer holds the current state lead in the 1600m after a strong 5:03.05 performance at the Marietta Distance Carnival on February 14th.

Jane Wangari (Athens Christian): In the longest event on the track, Wangari set the pace for the 3200m with an 10:59.23 at the Commerce Home Meet #1 last week.


The Power in the Field

Jillian Waterman (Cherokee): Waterman has been a force in the rings, launching a massive 47-06.00 in the Shot Put at the Cartersville Purple Hurricane Invitational. This remains the definitive mark for any thrower in the state to chase.

Sierra Thornton (Chamblee): Thornton established herself as the early leader in the Discus by throwing 145-05 at the MTFXCCGA Invitational, winning the event by a significant margin.

Zoe Oye (North Cobb): Clearing the bar at 5-08.00 in the High Jump at the Cartersville Purple Hurricane Invitational, Oye sits comfortably at the top of the vertical jump rankings. She also sits on top of the triple jump rankings with her mark of 41-5.00.

Ava Okeke (Kennesaw Mountain): Okeke leads the way in the Pole Vault, having cleared 12-00.00 at the Cartersville Purple Hurricane Invitational, a height that has become the gold standard for Georgia vaulters this March.
