An Open Letter About GATFXCCA & The Georgia Coaches Clinic

My name is Coach Jimmy Sorrells, and I am currently serving on the Board of the Georgia Track & Field / Cross Country Coaches Association (GATFXCCA).

Over the past few months, I have been actively involved in the revitalization of the GATFXCCA and in reshaping what our association represents. Historically, the clinic has often been viewed primarily as a requirement to complete the rules clinic in person rather than online. While that function remains important, there has been a meaningful shift in leadership and vision within the association.

Our goal moving forward is for the GATFXCCA to be more than a clinic. We are working to build a stronger, more unified voice for coaches across the state and to collaborate more closely with GHSA, so that both the Coaches Association and GHSA can provide meaningful input into decisions that impact our sport.

One of the initiatives discussed by the GATFXCCA Board is establishing a consistent presence at both the Cross Country and Track & Field State Meets, ensuring that coaches are represented and supported at the highest level of competition in Georgia.

As part of this effort, we are asking for your help in identifying and nominating coaches you believe would be strong leaders within our association. Your voice matters, and we want to ensure that the leadership of the GATFXCCA reflects the values, experience, and diversity of our coaching community.
