2025 Georgia XC Senior Spotlight: Alayna Carter

Senior spotlight is an attempt to let athletes tell as much of their own story as we can. We want to take a look into some of the things that make them tick. If you are a senior who is in the top 25 this fall  and want to be featured, send an email to milesplitga@gmail.com

Here we've got Alayna Carter from Blessed Trinity for a senior spotlight moment:

What is your PR in XC so far?
18:49

What are your college plans, if you have them figured out?
I'm not sure yet, but I am planning on running in college

What's your most memorable race or race you're most proud of?
So far,
Warpath. I had a great PR I wasn't expecting and am proud my dedication is paying off

What is your favorite meet in cross country season and why?
I have only ever ran 3 meets so I don't have much to go off of, but the energy at Warpath was great

What has been your biggest challenge in high school or what has been the hardest obstacle to overcome?
The fact that I've grown up with a pretty severe stutter. I have had to build confidence in myself to overcome the struggles that come with having a disability.

What is your daily/weekly mileage like?
I run 20 miles a week and cross train on a bike once a week. My mileage is pretty low due to prior injury.

What do you think is the biggest part of training that has helped you achieve success?
I think hill workouts and consistency are huge to my success. Having my team to run with every day also plays a big factor.

What is your all time favorite workout?
Tempos. I love the feeling of pushing myself and the reward of knowing you pushed yourself afterwards.

What is your least favorite or hardest workout?
My hardest workout would have to be hills.

Who do you have to thank for your success?
My mom is who I owe so much of my success to. She always encourages me to keep my body healthy and push myself. She always says "mind over matter."

Who do you look up to the most in your event?
No one specifically, all the girls I race with inspire me.

What gets you pumped up for a workout or race?
Being around the team and everyone encouraging each other is the best pre-workout.

What is your favorite food and/or movie and/or TV show and/or song?
I love Mexican food, the movie 10 things I hate about you, and the show Gilmore Girls.

What will you miss the most about high school?
I will miss my team the most

What advice would you give your younger self?
Be confident and bold, don't ever shy away from being yourself. Being genuine is the best thing you can do.
