2025 Georgia XC Senior Spotlight: Ayaan Surani

Senior spotlight is an attempt to let athletes tell as much of their own story as we can. We want to take a look into some of the things that make them tick. If you are a senior who is in the top 25 this fall  and want to be featured, send an email to milesplitga@gmail.com

Here we've got Ayaan Surani from Killian Hill for a senior spotlight moment:

What is your PR in XC so far?
15:23

What are your college plans, if you have them figured out?
I will definitely run in college, and will hopefully announce my commitment soon.

What's your most memorable race or race you're most proud of?
I am most proud of my State meet during 2025 track season where I won my first 2 track state titles.

What is your favorite meet in cross country season and why?
Wingfoot XC classic, since they always put up such a fun and great meet. It's such a vibe after the race as well.

What has been your biggest challenge in high school or what has been the hardest obstacle to overcome?
I train by myself everyday with no teammates. It makes it a bit tough especially on workout days, but discipline helps me through.

What is your daily/weekly mileage like?
It's usually around 60-65, but on race weeks it's slightly lower.

What do you think is the biggest part of training that has helped you achieve success?
It's doing the little things, like stretching, fueling, and just keep being consistent day in and day out.

What is your all time favorite workout?
My favorite workout is K repeats at threshold.

What is your least favorite or hardest workout?
Probably mile reps at 5k pace.

Who do you have to thank for your success?
I have to thank my coach, family, and God.

Who do you look up to the most in your event?
Jakob Ingebrigsten

What gets you pumped up for a workout or race?
All the sacrifices that my parents have made for me, and just knowing that i've done all the work; racing is the fun part.

What is your favorite food and/or movie and/or TV show and/or song?
My favorite food is pizza, favorite show is young sheldon, and one of my favorite songs is Headlines.

What will you miss the most about high school?
I'll miss all my friends from school.

What advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell myself to actually take the sport seriously, earlier. Get more knowledge about the sport, stay focused, and enjoy the process.
