AAAAAAA State Meet Preview

Once agin the 7A State meet will be held at pristine Berry College's Valhalla Stadium. Based on the Sectionals results up to 9 schools could score 30 points+. On paper it looks like a duel between Shiloh HS who are strong in the Sprints and Relays with a good opportunity to score in the hurdles, distance and throws. Marietta should do well in the distance events, throws and relays. Other schools in the mix for a Team Podium spot are North Gwinnett, Parkview, Pebblebrook, McEachern, Peachtree Ridge and Brookwood. 

100m- 6 sprinters in 7A went sub 10.70 this season. Kibren Moore of Pebblebrook busted out a 10.48 at Sectionals. Looking to run him down are Jabari Overton of Woodstock, Kobe Johnson of Discovery HS, Darius Green of Newton, Tyriq Hussie of Newnan and Ja'Leak Perry of McEachern.

200m- 18 athletes went sub :22 in 7A in 2019. Garrett Shedrick of Hillgrove is the favorite in this race with a pr of 20.74. Moore also burned down a 21.02 at Sectionals. Hussie of Newnan, Overton of Woodstock and Omar Simpson of Shiloh should all be factors.

400m- Nicholas Ramey of Brookwood posted a 47.09 at Sectionals, Elijah Berry of Shiloh will be racing for big team points as is team mate Omar Simpson. Shedrick of Hillgrove is also sub :48..

800m- This race is going to be a barnburner with 4 athletes having gone sub 1:56  Once again, Berry of Shiloh is a big factor with a pr of 1:55.53, Jarel Terry of Marietta cruised at Sectionals, but has a pr of 1:55.54. Kyle Harkabus had the fastest time at Sectionals and Devin Malone of McEachern could move up.

1600m- The 1600 will look like a college race. 4 athletes have pr's of sub 4:20 in the 1600m. It wwill be a showdown between Myles Collins of Archer, Kamari Miller of Marietta, with Calan Gizelbach of Forsyth Central and Chris Cherono of Grayson in a tight lead pack. 

3200m- Sectionals was a Q' fest in the 3200m. It was all about just getting to State. Miller of Marietta has the fastest time this season at 9:14, Chase Condra of Peachtree Ridge, Collins of Archer, Cherono of Grayson and Tristan Autry of Parkiew all have sub 9:30 times. 

110 Hurdles- Myles Marshall of Lassiter is the favorite with a pr of 13.96, but expect him to get a challenge from Colin Wainwright of North Gwinnett, Wilson McClain of Peachtree Ridge and Ahumad Williams of East Coweta. 

300 Hurdles- Joshua Stradford of McEachern is a clear favorite in the 300h having posted a 36.83 at Sectionals. Should be close for runnerup between Marshall of Lassiter, Darryl Wiltz of South Gwinnett and Ameer Salame of Etowah. 

4x100- 8 schools have posted times of sub :42 in 2019 including McEachern's 40.98. Shiloh was fastest at Sectionals, Marietta and Pebblebrook are definite factors.

4x400- McEachern has the top time in 2019 at 3:14.94, Shiloh, Brookwood and Pebblebrook will give chase and make it a race for the ages. 

HJ- The HJ is going to be a battle of attrition as 7 athletes are locked up at 6-6. Its anyone's event to win and 6-8 may well do it..

LJ- Matthew Chavers of Parkview has the top mark coming in at 23-3 with ZayQuan Graham of Kennesaw Mtn 1/4" back. Brayden Carey of East Coweta, Jereme Faison of Rockdale County and Trisstan Weddington of North Gwinnett all have marks of 23+

TJ- Parkview's Malik Thompson is top dawg in the TJ in 2019 at 47-3.50. 6 other athletes have jumped 45+ this season.

PV- Brian Hauch of Parkview has dominated the PV with a top bar of 16-5. Matthew Mazzacano of Milton has a pr of 15-1.25 and 3 ther vaulters have bests of 14+.

Shot- Eugene (Yoosang) Kim of North Gwinnett pr'd at Sectionals with a toss of 57-5. Hoping to lob bombs are Ridvan Kazimov of South Forsyth and Charles Jordan of Parkview.

Discus-  3 athletes come in with season bests of 160+ including leader Aston Beavers of Westlake, Bj Ojulari of Marietta and Kyle Brown of West Forsyth.

100m- Jazmine Hobson of Shiloh is the woman to beat in this race with a recent pr of 11.63  3 other girls have went sub :12 in 7A including  Trinity Flagler of Westlake, McKenzie Walker of Marietta and Tamiia Fuller of Peachtree Ridge.

200m- Hobson of Shiloh could double in the short sprints having the fastest time in 7A at 23.74  Mekenze Kelley of Campbell and Flagler of Westlake are her chief competion in this event. 

400m- This is a key event for Campbell as they could sweep the top 2 positions behind Ashton Lindley at 54.96 and Mekenze Kelley. Amara Onyeukwu of Walton will seek to breakup the victory party on the Podium. 

800m- A showdown is looming between Brynne Sumner of Woodstock (2:10) and Ani Henderson of Marietta at 2:12.92. The 3rd spot may have up to 5 girls vying for a Bronze led by Abigail Robertson of Walton. 

1600m- The top 3 should be very tight in the 1600m with Ellie Hall of Marietta and Brynne Sumner sporting 4:59s. Madelynne Cadeau of South Forsyth could make a move and make it very interesting. 

3200m- Nike NXN National finalist Hall of Marietta has dominated the 3200 in 7A having a pr of 10:33. Cadeau of South Forsyth  has went sub 11 and 3rd place is up for grabs wide open.. 

100h- Should be a great race for the Gold between Nia Scott of Brookwood (14.15) and Elasia Campbell of Walton (14:20) Chakiya Plummer of McEachern could push those 2..

300h- Chakiya Plummer of McEachern has the top time in 7A this Spring at 41.94  Big event for Campbell as Ashton Lindley and Raina Perry could rackup big team points. Allyria McBride of Wheeler was tops at Sectionals. 

4x100- Campbell dominated the 4x100 this season going 45.81, look for Westlake, Shiloh and Grayson ready to pounce an any mistake. 

4x400- This event could decide the State Champ.. Marietta has the best time coming in at 3:49.20, followed by Campbell, Westlake and Peachtree Ridge. 

HJ- Elasia Campbell of Walton is one of the top ranked skywalkers in the USA with a bar of 6-0.25 3 others have pr's of 5-6 including Imani Flanagan of Rockdale County, Kaylen Madrey of Newnan and Kendall McDaniel of Grayson. 

LJ- Skye Gross of Parkview pr'd at Sectionals with a mark of 19-4.50  3 girls have marks of 18-7+ including McEachern's Jayda Parsons and Jayla Brown and Morgan Bentley from Brookwood. 

TJ- Jayla Brown of McEachern elevated herself to #1 at Sectionals in 7A in the TJ at 40-9. Morgan Bentley of Brookwood has went 40+, Jada Alston of Campbell could pick up crucial team points, and Nya Lakin could challenge. 

PV- 3 girls have bars of 12+ this Spring, including Josie Konigsmark of Marietta at 12-6 and Kelsey Worthington of North Gwinnett along with Rachel Valentine of Walton. 

Shot- 4 40+ throwers will go at in 7A including rankings leader Mia Anderson of Mill Creek at 42-2.50, Jasmin Walker of Cherokee, Lailah Malone of Campbell and Aaliyah Foxx-Rome of North Paulding. 

Discus-  Madicyn Robinson of Lowndes comes in at #1 in this event at 133-11. Challenging could be Anderson of Mill Creek, Karena Grigenas of Marietta and Jamila Otieno of Wheeler
