A Woodstock high school runner was struck by a Discus at a track meet this weekend. MileSplit does not have all of the details of the incident, but we do know that a helicopter came and took the athlete to a local hospital. The runner was Xander Garanzuay. Not many details are known other than this was a very serious incident and the recovery looks to be a long and difficult process. I know that the track and field community is a great one and frequently comes together to help one of their own. With permission from Woodstock coach Weaver, here is information on what you could do to help the family after this tragic incident.
If you would like to contribute, you are welcome to donate through GoFundMe, https://gofund.me/49bddbc5; however, please note that 3% of the funds raised go to the platform.
To ensure 100% of the proceeds go directly to the family, WHS is offering an alternative option-you may write a check (made payable to WHS) or donate cash directly to the school and we will make sure the funds get to the family.
