2013 Asics Invitational Preview by Coach Robinson
Boys- There are a total of 11 ranked teams from classes A-AAAAAA on the boy’s side. Leading the way is second ranked Peachtree Ridge from 6A. The Ridge is led by the veteran coach Ron Clanton. The Lions will see stiff competition from some of the top teams in AAA. North Hall (ranked 2nd), Woodward Academy (3rd), Blessed Trinity (5th) and Oconee County (7th)are all in the field. Number 2 ranked Lagrange from AAAA will also be in the mix. On the individual side it looks to be a showdown between Kevin Mills of Peachtree Ridge and Reilly Friedman from Galloway. Both have had outstanding seasons to date and should push each other. Other top runners in the race will include Drew Sands of Woodward Academy, Christian Bowles of Lakeside Evans, Sam Bowie and Andrew Coggins of Lagrange, John Raville of Whitewater, Matt Munns of Blessed Trinity and Bryce Shuebert of North Hall. These guys have all run under 16:10 this year.
Girls- The field has 12 ranked teams. Leading the way is 6A number 2 ranked Peachtree Ridge followed by several ranked teams from A-AAAAAA. Most noticeable are North Gwinnett, Alexander, South Forsyth and Blessed Trinity. The top individual ladies are Kathryn Foreman and Nicole Fegans of Landmark, Jenna Gearing of White County, Savannah Carnahan of South Forsyth. They all have season PRs of 19 minutes and under. With a plethora of girls under 20 minutes this year, be ready for some great racing in the girls races.
