Coach Tom Williams is retiring from Walton High School this year after 25 years of coaching (at Walton and Lassiter High School) to take the head coaching job at North Georgia College and State University.  He is hosting a cross country coaches clinic in May to share some of his wealth of knowledge.  I think there are a great many coaches in Georgia that could gain from a day with Coach Williams.  He will explain his training philosophy for different parts of the season and race strategies. Newnan (Ga.) senior Chalonda Goodman clocked a wind-legal 11.51 (+1.8). Goodman was apparently just warming up in the prelims as she went onto to run a U.S. #15 all-time performance of 11.30 in the finals. The meet record time is also the fastest juniors clocking in the World so far in 2009. More meet coverage inside and coming throughout the week. 

Taco Bell Classic co-meet director Kevin Shaw previews this weekend's Taco Bell Classic at Spring Valley in Columbia. Over 2,200 athletes from 185 teams and 11 states are scheduled to compete.
