A Public Girls State Meet Preview

The distance finals are Thursday evening and Cavana Epps from Central Talbotton is the favorite in both events. Lila Mitchell of GMAC and Maria Bermudez will attempt to give her a run in the 1600m. Abbey Bohannon of Gordon Lee and Bermudez will give chase in the 3200 race.

 

Friday's Field events are huge for Gordon Lee as they hope to dominate like they did at the Area and Sectional meets. Katelyn Lee is primed to sweep the Throws and Madelyn Lee could get 2nd in the Discus and Shay Wooten 2nd in the Shot. Anna Pettigrew could sweep the vertical events as well, but Keosha Dozier from Greenville may push her in the HJ. Kimmie Davis of Baconton has a mark of 17-0 to lead the LJ'rs and the TJ competition may come down to Jada Gardner of Marion County and Kita Aycock of GMAC. 

 

Georgia Military is strong in both Relays and it seems the only school that can push them is Marion County and possibly Mitchell in the 4x100m. Top track athletes to watch during Saturday finals are: Callie McMullen and Sutton Long of GMAC (400), Desiree Blunt of Twiggs County and Davis of Baconton (100/200) and Corrssia Perry of Mt.Zion (200) Haley Collins of Schley is a heavy favorite to take the 800m (2:31) Uniqua Mosley of Portal has the fastest 100h time at 15.84 and Malique Brunner from Elite Scholars 49.05 in the 300h.
