Region 8-AAAAAA Brookwood Boys, Girls Stampede the Horse Park Bruce Taylor Nov 2, 2014

Region 8 took to the turf and trail at the Horse Park immediately follwing the Region 7 races. Temps had warmed up just enough, as the sun began to break through heavy cloud cover by racetime, so they did not have the miserable conditions endured by regions who had raced in the morning. It was just like back in the day when it was Brookwood and Parkview battling for 8-AAAAA supremacy.  Some things rarely change (no Miles Yapp? no problemo) as Brookwood's boyz won the team title scoring 22 points, and Coach Carter's Lady Broncs made it a clean sweep, edging neighborhood rival Parkview by 4 points.  Pictured is Brookwood's David Giuliano holding off Grayson's Jonathan Ernst just before the finish mats.

With meets like the Fulton and gwinnett county championships being contested it comes as no surprise the great performances turned in with school pride on the line.   The High Jump competition in the 6A at Georgia Olympics will be very interesting as this past week, Bailey Vitatoe of Brookwood and Joshua Hill from Newnan both cleared bars of 6-10 earning them co- 6A Boys 'AOW' honors. 6A Girls Team Power Rankings thru 3-18 Bruce Taylor Mar 19, 2014

In the infamous words of Oscar Winner Matthew McConaughay,  "Alright, Alright, Alright.."  McEachern is a little heavy on points in the Individual Sprints (around 20-25) keeping Westlake actually at the top of the 6A Girls Team Power Rankings.  Your gonna have to be in Albany the 2nd week of May to see how this ultimately shakes out. Archer is in 3rd place thanks to their Throws and Relays with Grayson, Campbell, Marietta, Parkview and Etowah bunched together all in contention for GHSA Team Awards down in Albany.   These rankings were calculated by scoring the rankings as a meet. We scored 12 deep for individuals and 12 deep for relays. For example, for individuals 1st place received 12 points for their team, on down to 1 point for 12th place.

Meet Records Shattered at the Parkview Invitational Bruce Taylor Feb 23, 2014

6A- Brookwood Bucks Off a Strong Field for Team Title, Mills Too Tough Takes Overall Title Bruce Taylor Nov 9, 2013

Never doubt that Coach Dehnke's Brookwood squad isn't going to bring it at State. The Broncos have bounced up and down in the rankings all season, but on the biggest stage ran well enough to take the AAAAAA title with 101 points. Closest team race in history as 28 points separated 1-5. Back in  2007 only  21 points separated 1-5! Fun to watch...Kevin Mills was a man among boys running tall to his first state title.

GHSA Boys AAAAAA State Preview Travis Gower Nov 6, 2013

2013 is a year of parity for the largest classification in Georgia Cross Country. Both in team and individual races, there are no clear favorites in the way that has become the custom in recent years. Coaches will be busy doing quick scores in anticipation of the team outcome, even shooting video of the finish. This will be race for the ages..
