Here are the first 5A Girls Team Rankings of the season week ending 9/6. Dunwoody ran up to expectations and remains on top from their pre-season ranking. McIntosh shot all the way up to 2nd after their BOA performance.

It was business as usual for the Flowery Branch Falcons as they once again ran unselfishly, putting team ahead of individual goals winning the Boys state title scoring 84 points. Nicholas Ashmeade led the pack Saturday placing 8th in 16:55 Logan Poteet of Kell capped off a stellar season holding off challenges early and after loop 2 began winning the overall title in 16:13.
A once dominant Flowery Branch has watched its gap close as hungry teams like Clarkston, Northview, Greenbrier, Lakeside-Evans, and Sequoyah look to play spoiler. Individually, it appears to be a duel between Logan Poteet of Kell and Christian Bowles of Lakeside-Evans.
The 5A race was packed with teams not in AAAAA as its customary for teams in lower classes to run in another (higher class race) against better competition, and avoiding going head to head against schools they will see in 2 weeks with a state title on the line. ACS, North Hall, Darlington, Westminster, Perry, Lovett and Hephzibah all competed in the 5A race. North Hall and Westminster won the team races prepping for region.
