Results and GPS Watches

Athletes are strongly encouraged NOT to wear GPS watches at sectionals.

The GPS watches are interfering with the timing system and results.  If your athlete must wear their GPS watch, you need to coach them to keep their watch at their side through and after the finish line.  If they bring their watch up in front of their number, which contains the timing chip, there is a high probability it will interfere with the results.

If your athlete is not in the final results, providing documentation on their finish place and timing will be the responsibility of the coach.  If you have to work with the timer, show your pictures, then they have to correct the results and this happens for 4-5 teams, this delays the results for everyone.

Alternatives:  There are permanent mileage markers every 200m on the course, coaches and athletes can use those. You athlete can:

    1- wear a regular watch, no GPS;

     2- have their coach give them splits at any of the above markers

     3- don't wear a watch.

Advancement to State:

The top 12 teams advance to state and the top 20 individuals advance to the state meet in Carrollton, GA which is run on Friday morning November 6, 2026.

Awards:

There are no awards for sectionals finishers.  Only awards will be done at the region level. Perfect Timing will print 4 additional copies of the results, 1 for each region.   A region coach will need to sort through the results to identify your top 10 runners and to calculate the team scores & places.

Any awards to given out at the Region level will be at the discretion of each region coordinator and that regions coaches.

Region 3 Awards:  medals to the top 10 individuals and the medals to the top 7 runners on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. As well as Trophies to the Region champion team and the region runner up team.
