James Rollerson Memorial Relays 2026

Jackson, GA

Meet Information

The Jackson High School track and field teams would like to invite you to the 6th Annual James "Jay" Rollerson Memorial Relays. This event was created in honor of the late coach James Rollerson. We aim to promote community citizenship, good sportsmanship, and physical and mental development through healthy, organized competition. These are the principles that Coach Rollerson instilled in the athletes he coached during his lengthy career. Coach Rollerson began coaching JV football and girl's track in the mid-'70s at his alma mater Burke High in Charleston, South Carolina. After a brief hiatus from coaching to work in the private sector, Coach Rollerson realized his true calling and was hired by Jackson High School in the late 1980s. He quickly turned the once-struggling track and field program around and led them to several top 3 team finishes in the state meet which is still the school's highest finish ever. Through his career, Coach Rollerson helped countless boys and girls obtain full scholarships in football and track and field. He led Stone Mountain High to a second-place finish at the state meet before retiring. Even in retirement he still had the itch and became a part-time coach at Newton County High where he was an assistant on the 2016 boys state championship team and the girls' 2-time region champion team.
