2024 MEET HAS BEEN CANCELED

Bobby Scott Cross Country Invitational

Perimeter School will host the 2nd annual Bobby Scott Invitational in honor of its founding Headmaster of 30+ years. In addition to his role as Headmaster, Coach Scott started and led the Cross Country and Track and Field programs to impact a countless number of lives over his years of service. This race will aim to represent his passions by providing a youth race for younger athletes and donating a portion of its revenue to a charity in his honor.

Date: TENTATIVELY (weather-permitting) rescheduled for FRIDAY 9/27 due to inclement weather

Location:

Perimeter School

9500 Medlock Bridge Road

Johns Creek GA 30097

Please note that this meet is for Middle School (grades 5-8) and Youth (grades 3-5) divisions only!  NO HIGH SCHOOL RACES (Host school Perimeter only goes through grade 8)

Note that fifth graders can run on either the MS division or the Youth division.   However, if the fifth grader is an individual who could potentially score for your MS team (i.e. they are possibly one of your top five boy/girl runners and are a member of your MS team), then we ask that they run with the MS team in that division.   The purpose of the youth race is to "sell" XC to young runners, with the intent of making it more likely that they eventually join your older teams.

Schedule:

  • 4:00pm Youth race (3rd-5th grade B&G together but separate awards) (1 Mile)
  • 4:25pm Middle School Girls race (2 Mile)
  • 4:50pm Middle School Boys race (2 Mile)
  • 5:20 (ish) awards ceremony

Entry Fee: $100 per school

No fee for parking or spectators. We tentatively plan to have concessions available on site.

Entry deadline

Please have entry fee submitted and received by Monday September 16, 2024

Deadline for on-line entries: Monday, September 23, 2024 at 5:00pm

Please be advised that we are asking for a commitment to attend this XC meet.   Consequently, we are asking that the $100 non-refundable entry fee be received about 10 days before the actual meet.   Please contact Coach Binford if that would be problematic.

Entry Fee checks can be mailed to Perimeter School

ATTN:  April Barranco

9500 Medlock Bridge Road

Johns Creek, GA 30097

Important note:   Please include the HS graduation year in your rosters when you are entering your athletes on MileSplit.   This is particularly important in the youth race since the medals are separated by grade level.   I recommend that you begin your entries early in case you have issue

Awards:

Medals will be given to the top 10 boys and top 10 girls of the Middle School races. A team trophy will be given to the 1st place boys' team and 1st place girls' team of the youth race and championship race.

Medals will also be awarded to the top three runners in each class in the youth race (i.e. top three 3rd grade girls, top three 3rd grade boys, etc. through 5th grade).

Meet Password:

Email Coleman Binford at cbinford@perimeterschool.org for the meet password.   Note: About a year ago our email platform changed and now the email address must include the word "school" (after perimeter) in order to be received.

Description of Courses:

The course for the two middle school races will be the exact same course as was used in the 2023 XC season, and will be the same course as the past several years.   It is 2.0 miles.   It starts and finishes on the soccer fields and it includes a significant amount of time in the woods on trails.   There is a big hill in the woods (down and then back up on the other side) within that trail portion.  A new and improved map of the course is in the works as of the time of this posting and will be made available to coaches when completed.   Coaches can arrange a time to preview the course if that is desired.   Please do so by contacting Coach Binford (contact listed above).

The course for the youth division race will be shorter (approximately 1.0 miles).   It also starts and finishes on the soccer fields.   By contrast with the MS course, it consists of only about 100-150 meters of trails in the woods.   Also, the big hill that is run in the middle school races is not included in the youth division course.
