COURSE INFORMATION: NEW COURSE FOR 2024

Please note that the course has slight changes from 2024 due

to construction in the park. The changes are slight and are in the northern

part of the course. We suggest that runners scout out the northern section to

learn the new turns. Part of the course will now run up the road inside the

park.  Please take a look at the attached

map and work with your athletes on understanding their laps. Middle school

athletes will run 2 laps, and high school athletes will run 3 laps.  The middle school lap is slightly smaller than

the high school lap, and course officials will make a slight adjustment to the

northeastern-most turn before the middle school race begins. Runners who do not

complete the required number of laps shall be disqualified. Coaches, please

communicate the required number of laps to your athletes and keep track of them

during the race. While we have staff onsite counting laps, some athletes miss

the cues and instructions in the midst of competition.

Course Map

BUS UNLOADING/LOADING AND PARKING/TEAM ENTRY

Buses can unload and park along Park Ave, adjacent to the

Grant Park Recreation Center. Buses should NOT enter the Grant Park Recreation

Center lot as it can be tight and congested.   A police officer will be

present near the Park Ave entrance to the Rec Center to help mitigate traffic

and unloading.

SPECTATOR PARKING AND ENTRY

Parking in the Grant Park Rec Center is limited but

available.Once full, please utilize

legal street parking. The Atlanta Zoo has lots available as well. Spectators

should arrive with plenty of time to find legal parking and walk to the

event.  Do NOT block the turn-around area closest to the Recreation

Center.

TEAM TENT AREA

Teams can set up tents in the trees and grassy areas near

the ballfield. Please avoid getting too close to the course.

COURSE WARM-UP

It is highly recommended that your team arrive with enough

time to warm up on the course prior to the start of the first race. Once the

first race commences, it is important that athletes step off the course to

prevent impeding those racing and to maintain the course setup. If you and your

team arrive after the start of the first race, we suggest warming up outside of

the racing venue.

PACKET PICKUP

Team packet pickup location is designated on the map and

will be near the finish line. Please note that packets will be prepared only

for teams who have fully registered their individuals through GA Milesplit

according to the deadline.

FINISH LINE, FOOD AND FLUIDS

The finish line and chute area are for finishers and event

staff only. This area will be clearly marked. We ask that coaches and

spectators refrain from entering the chute. Food and fluids provided are for

finishers only. Once finishers exit the chute, they will not be permitted to

re-enter.

TIMING & RESULTS

Timing and scoring of the event will be done by Perfect

Timing Group.  Live results links will be available during the event.

Again, we ask that coaches help event organizers by counting the laps of your

athletes and making sure your athletes complete the required number of laps.

Should they not complete their laps, please notify an event official or the

timer immediately.

AWARDS

Middle School: the middle school awards ceremony will

begin at approximately 7:40 p.m. The Top 10 boys and Top 10 girls will be

awarded a ribbon. The Top 2 teams will be recognized verbally.

High School: The top 3 boys and top 3 girls will be

awarded a finisher medal upon crossing the finish line.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING

Teams shall follow the principles of "Leave No Trace:"

Please pack out what you pack in and bring trash bags, etc. We

will have some small trash receptacles onsite for spectator garbage and water

bottle recycling. We want to leave this event space BETTER than we found it!

Please encourage your athletes and spectators to help us clean up trash.

VOLUNTEERS AND TEAM SUPPORT NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to make this a safe, enjoyable event.

Interested parties can

register here
to volunteer.  Volunteers receive a small gift as a

token of appreciation.

At the conclusion of the event, we ask the remaining teams

and spectators to please lend a helping hand! Many hands make light work, and

we are short on daylight. Teams can help us break down by carrying equipment to

our truck: fencing, bins, cones, tables, etc. Find an event staffer in a red

shirt and ask how you can help!
