Meet Information

1st Annual Rocky Face Challenge 5k Invitational

All *eligible GA and TN teams are invited to register for the race. *Please be aware that, per GHSA regulations, no unaffiliated teams will be allowed to register for league races. Schools must be members of the GHSA, GISA, TSSAA, or an equivalent organization in order to participate.

Race Location: THIS MEET WILL NOT BE AT DALTON HIGH SCHOOL. The meet will be at the following location.

Rocky Face Ridge Park
2213 Crow Valley Rd.
Dalton, GA 30720
Course: The XC course at Rocky Face is a one loop course. This is NOT a PR course. The varied terrain includes fields and woods, with a challenging series of hills in the middle. The course is at the location of the of the Rocky Face Ridge Battle during the civil war.  The athletes will run by several civil war berms that still exist.

CHIP TIMING will be provided by Carpet Capital Running Club (Dalton, GA)

Race Times:
(1) Varsity Girls (5K) - 8:30 AM  (limited to top 7 runners)
(2) Varsity Boys (5K) - 9:15 AM (limited to top 7 runners)
(3) Junior Varsity Combined (5K) - 10:00 AM (unlimited)
**If JV numbers are too large, then JV race will be split.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded to the top-10 athletes in each varsity race.

The top-5 JV girls and top-5 JV boys will receive medals as well. JV medals will be distributed in the chute. 
Plaques will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd-place teams in each varsity race.
The winning team(s), as well as the top-10 individual finishers (varsity only), will be recognized after the varsity races have concluded.

Entry Fees:

The entry fee for the high school division is $75 per team (price includes JV runners).  $150 max is entering a boys and girls team.  If your team does not have at least 5 runners, then it will be $10 per athlete.

PLEASE make any roster adjustments before September 20 by midnight.  

Payments: Make checks payable to DALTON HIGH SCHOOL XC BOOSTER, and put "ROCKY FACE CHALLENGE" in the memo line. These can be delivered the day of the meet or mailed prior to the meet.

Limitations: COACHES, PLEASE NOTE: THE MEET WILL BE LIMITED TO THE FIRST 25 H.S. TEAMS. 

Registration will close early if 25 teams register before the deadline.

WE WILL ALLOW 7 H.S. VARSITY ENTRIES per team. Enter your top-7 runners in varsity HS races and your remaining athletes in the appropriate JV race.

JV entries are unlimited.

Entry Deadline: September 20 at 12:00 midnight

Facilities: 

Admission: We will charge $3 for each personal vehicle (buses excluded). Proceeds will go to the host school to help defray the costs associated with hosting a meet.

Parking: PARKING IS LIMITED! - PLEASE CONSIDER CARPOOLING! Parking for spectators is available at Rocky Face Ridge Park. There will be signs and volunteers to direct you. All team buses will be directed to a designated unloading area and will then park in the overflow parking area located at Poplar Spring Baptist Church.

Team tents should be set up in the designated area
