THE JOHN STRICKLAND SPEED MEET 

The meet was designed by by the late Coach John Strickland.  He was   a dedicated coach for more than 15 years and enjoyed hosting this meet. In his honor, we have decided to name the meet after him and maintain the "Speed Meet" format.

Region is right around the corner; coaches and  athletes want to get the best times & measurements to prepare and rank.  This is a fun meet and it allows the athlete to leave it all on the track without having to worry about being tired or worn out from competing in multiple events. It also allows for an unlimited amount of entries per event per school.  

*Please Note

The meet entries are limited to 1 individual event and only 1 relay per athlete. For example, if John does the triple jump for his individual event he can not do the 100 meter dash. The only other event he is allowed to compete in is a relay. Athletes will be rejected from the 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th individual events.  

The following list is comprised of teams that participated in the past: Fayette County, Whitewater, Sandy Creek, Douglas County, Creekside, Griffin, Lovejoy, Charles Drew, Langston Hughes, Fredric Douglas, Tri-Cities and Mundy's Mill.

Entry Fee:

The cost of the meet is $45.00 per gender or $80.00 for both genders. Make the check out to Fayette County High School Track & Field.

This is a password protected meet so please contact Coach Ogletree, at ogletree.ebonie@mail.fcboe.org or at 678-877-7289 for the password , if you would like to register. It is limited to 10 Teams so contact her as soon as possible.

Assistance: We need each team to provide coaches to run the field events.  These will be assigned. If you prefer a certain event please contact the meet director. 

Coaches will be provided with snacks and a meal. 

Format:

~Each athlete may only participate in a maximum of one (1) individual event and one (1) relay. Every event will be run as a final.

~Athletes can NOT compete in multiple relays or individual events.

~Running events back-to-back should not be an issue because athletes should not be competing in multiple individual or relay events. 

~Unlimited entries per school per event

~Medals will be given to the 1st place finisher.  Team trophies will be given to first and runner up finishers for girls and boys
