ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & MEET SCHEDULE

1. There will be sixteen (16) track and field events taking place in both divisions (boys & girls) at this championship meet.

2. The National Federation (NFHS) Rules of Track and Field is the official guide with the exceptions as may be found in this section.

3. All ties at the State Track Meet will be broken using the current National Federation Track & Field Rule Book as to procedures and/or methods of breaking said ties.

4. If an athlete false starts, the athlete will be disqualified from the event.

5. Student athletes who finish in the top four (4) in each event will qualify for participation in the GISA AAA State Meet that takes place in Albany on Thursday, April 25th, Friday, April 26th, and Saturday, April 27th.

o All entries will be manually completed on the official entry form after the meet is complete. If an athlete qualifies to the state meet, but is unable to attend due to a conflict, the 5th place participant will be contacted and invited to compete.

ANNOUNCER

We will provide a meet announcer for this event. He will make important announcements before, during, and at the end of the meet, including event calls (1st, 2nd, and 3rd call).

SCRATCH MEETING

At the scratch meeting, we will review each event in detail that is included in the meet program. Based on this being a championship event coaches are only allowed to scratch student athletes for various reasons. Coaches are reminded all heat sheets are final and substitutions are not allowed!

CLERK / CHECK-IN TABLE

Student athletes are reminded when they hear their event call to immediately report to the designated area. If participating in a field event, report to check in where the event is being held. Athletes who compete in running events will report to the check-in table, signing in with the clerk.

Please remind all student athletes to stay out of the infield unless they are checking in for their event, warming up (10 minutes before 1st call) and or participating in their cool down after completing their event (10 minute period).

***All parents and spectators are not allowed on the track or the infield during the running events. They must stay in the stands or behind the fence.

ENTRIES

Teams: 2 entries per event

Individuals: 5 entries per athlete (3 individual events; 2 relay events)

RELAYS

Each relay team is allowed to list a max of 6 runners (4 plus 2 alternates) with no order required. According to the GISA Rules, a runner may be listed on two different relay teams, but may compete on only one relay team.

Example: Smith, Jones, Sams, Beall, Adams, Taylor make up Team #1 on the 4x100m Relay Relay; with Smith, Jones, Cutler, Dohn, Davis, Garwood making up Team #2. Notice: Team #2 has two people that are on Team #1, but may have up to four (4) others.

UNIFORMS & JEWELRY

All relay teams are reminded to wear matching uniforms during relay events. Student athletes are reminded they cannot compete while wearing jewelry, but watches are allowed to be worn during events. If a student athlete is wearing a bracelet or item of jewelry for religious reasons, please provide a note and have the Head Coach discuss these details during the scratch meeting.

HEATS & TRIALS

This will be an all finals one day event. The horizontal jumps and throws events will be allowed a max of 3 preliminary attempts. After the first 3 attempts, the top 8 distances will be reseeded. The top 8 athletes will compete in the finals (2 additional attempts). Each running event will follow 1,2 or 3 total heats (sessions) based on the amount of individuals participating in that particular event.

SCORING

The top eight will be scored at this event: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

MEDALS & TROPHIES

All 1st place individual and relay event winners in the boys and girls divisions will be recognized and awarded a GISA plaque and ribbon for their accomplishment. All student athletes who finish 2nd-6th place in individual and relay events will receive a ribbon for their accomplishments.

The student athlete in each division who scores the most individual points will be recognized as the High Point winner for the meet. Teams in both divisions who score the most points overall during the meet in all events combined will be recognized as the Champion and awarded the 1st place trophy.

Teams in the girls and boys divisions who finish 2nd place overall will be recognized with the Runner up trophy. The Coach of the Year will be presented to both the boys and girls head coach that represents the 1st place in overall team standings.
