-This is the First Annual Anthony "Apple" Hawkins Invitational, formerly known as the Apalachee Wildcat Dash. Proceeds of the open race go towards the Anthony "Apple" Hawkins scholarship in memory of Apple. Apple was a former Apalachee cross country runner and 2013 graduate who was killed in 2016 by a drunk driver in an auto accident.

-INFORMATION ABOUT THE OPEN RACE

-$20 registration fee for the open race. Includes T-shirt. Runners must be registered on milesplit by the 9/13/17 deadline to be able to run and must have sent in the t-shirt registration form to Coach Fancher by 9/8/17 in order to receive a t-shirt. After registration on milesplit is complete, send the t-shirt registration form found in the link above and either a check or cash to Jennifer Fancher at Apalachee High School, 940 Haymon Morris Rd. Winder, GA 30680. Check in for the open race will begin at 7:00 AM and will end at 7:45 AM on the practice field near the start line. Payments are due at registration check-in. $20 cash or check made out to Apalachee Cross Country. There will be awards for the top 10 men and top 10 women finishers regardless of age given at the finish line upon completion of the race. Once you have registered through milesplit, print your registration information and bring it with you to the race. We will hand out race bibs and t-shirts before the race.

-$50 per varsity team, $100 for both varsity teams, no charge for JV teams if both varsity teams run. $5 per JV runner if no varsity teams run, $50 maximum per JV team if JV only.

-$25 per middle school team, $50 for both middle school teams

RACE TIMES

-8:00 Open Race (5k) - Open to the public

-8:45 Boys Varsity (top 10 runners)

-9:15 Girls Varsity (top 10 runners)

-10:00 Boys and Girls JV (unlimited)

-Varsity and JV awards after conclusion of JV race

-10:45 Boys Middle School (2 Mile)

-11:15 Girls Middle School (2 mile)

-Middle School awards at the conclusion of the last race near the starting line.

-The races will be held on the campus of Apalachee High School in Winder, GA. Team packets can be found at the practice field under the field goal. The course map will be included in the packet although it is recommended to look at the course map before race day. The course is one big loop. The finish will be inside the stadium on the home side of the football field. See course map.

-The course has been changed since 2015 to avoid any overlap. It is mostly grass and dirt with about a roughly 350 meter finish on the track inside the stadium.

-Runners should have no problems using spikes. However there is roughly 300 meters on asphalt.

-The course includes roughly 1.5 miles of trails through the woods. Teams are recommended to get to the school early enough to allow runners to preview the course.

-The start is wide open and takes place on the practice field. Team tents can be set-up on the practice field or around the practice field.

-This is a challenging course that will prepare all runners for the state meet in Carrollton.

-Parking is $5 per car

-T-Shirts will be sold by the field house.

-High school team awards will take place on the track following the final JV race. Top 3 teams in each varsity race will receive trophies. Top 15 runners in each varsity race will receive medals at the finish as they finish the race. Trophy for the 1st and 2nd place teams in JV race. The top 5 runners in the JV race will receive a medal at the finish line as he/she finishes.

-Top 10 middle school runners will receive medals at the finish line as they finish. Top two middle school teams will receive trophies.
