The Fulton County High Schools Cross Country Championships meet will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 starting at 7:45AM at Milton High School.

PARKING: PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS OF PARKING VOLUNTEERS!
SPECTATORS please use the Birmingham Hwy entrance and park at the Milton HS main lots or at the adjacent Northwestern MS parking lots. There is no access to the start line area for private cars or any unloading by spectators!! Please see attached map!!
COACHES - Have buses utilize the Freemanville Rd entrance as this will facilitate more efficient bus unloading at the course start line area. We request spectators to enter the school property from Birmingham Road and park at the main school lots to avoid congestion for buses near the start area.
SCHOOL BUSES ONLY will be able to stop and unload on School Rd nearest the Freemanville/East entrance to the school at the course start area and then be directed to park in the bus loading zone adjacent to Milton HS. BUSES MUST ENTER FROM FREEMANVILLE ROAD (NOT BIRMINGHAM HIGHWAY) OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNLOAD NEAR THE START LINE. Teams will need to walk up to the school to load their buses once the meet/awards ceremony is over.
ADMISSION: There will be a $5 PARKING fee per car and it will be collected at 2 tables adjacent to the course start area. All PARKING fees will go to the maintenance of the Milton HS cross country trail. Donations will also be accepted!
Tent Set-up: All teams are requested to set up tents (camp) in the area adjacent to the course, between School Rd. and the fenced-off retention pond area (see attached map).
Registration: You can only run 7 varsity athletes for each boys and girls varsity race and you can decide on race day which 7 athletes that will be from your complete roster of registered athletes. You can run up to 15 in the JV races. All other athletes will run in the Open races (no limit on the number of participants in the Open races). The Open races are being added to the schedule due to the expanded field of teams last year. Entry deadlines and changes to entries close on Sept 14th at 11:59pm. Get your entries in!
Course:
The course is three loops, approx. 5000m in length. First loop is 1000m, followed by two loops of 2000m each. Each 1000m and each mile is marked with permanent marker post on the right hand side of the course. The course is 99% off-road with three road crossings of 10m each and four wooden bridge crossings of 5m each. NOTE: the bridges may and are often slippery so please inform your runners to be careful when running across the bridges!! The course consists of grass, bark-chip, gravel, dirt and soft pine needle trails. A course map will be in your race packet. It is very spectator-friendly, with viewing of the race start, 1000m mark, two-mile split, 3000m mark and the finish from the main field. Milton Cross Country will have padded mats over the road surface and on both bridge crossings!! Course map attached and available at www.miltonxc.org
Awards: ALL awards will be presented at the awards ceremony at approx. 11:15am and will be the same as follows, Open Races: Top-2 teams will receive a trophy, top-10 individuals will receive medals. JV races: Top-3 teams will receive a trophy, top-14 individuals will receive medals (1st & 2nd team JV all-county) and the JV race winner will also receive a trophy; Varsity races: Top-4 teams will receive a trophy, top-21 (1st, 2nd & 3rd teams all-county) will receive medals and the top-3 individuals will receive a trophy.
Best All-Around Program Award: will again be presented to the 1st place school with scoring as follows in all 6 races, Open, JV and Varsity Boys & Girls, to determine the awardee:

Best All-Around Program Award Tie Breaking Procedure:
The tie breaking criteria for the Best Overall Program Award will be as follows and will be used in the order listed:
1) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 varsity races
If still tied, 2) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 JV races
If still tied, 3) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 Open races
If still tied, 3) Lowest total placement of each schools 6th runner in each of the varsity races.
If still tied, 4) Lowest total placement of each schools 7th runner in each of the varsity races.
If still tied, 5) Lowest total placement of each schools 6th runner in each of the JV races.
If still tied, 6) Lowest total placement of each schools 7th runner in each of the JV races.
7) Same criteria as number 5(five) listed above except for the lowest total for the 6th runners in the Open races, and if still tied, 8) same criteria as number 6(six) listed above except for the lowest total for the 7th runners in the Open races. If one school does not have a runner to counter the other schools runner, then they lose this tiebreaker by default.
9) Heck, if its still tied after all that, well flip a coin.
Packet pick up for schools, which will contain bib numbers/chips and instructions, will be at the information tent adjacent to the start line. That will begin at 6:45am. Extra safety pins and chip ties will also be available at the information tent.
Coaches Meeting: will take place at 7:30am at the start line at which time a box draw will be held. Each school will start in their drawn box for all 6 races of the meet. If not present at the meeting your school will be assigned a starting box.
Rules: We will follow NFHS/GHSA rules for uniforms, jewelry, conduct, etc. We will be using USA Track and Field officials for clerking, starting and umpiring on the course and to verify/backup results tabulation.
Timing & Results: This will be a chip-timed race by the The Perfect Timing Group so make sure you inform all your athletes to turn their chips in at the end of the race or your school will be charged for each one not returned. ALL runners will be timed and scored so enter all of your athletes in the meet. We will have extra zip-ties for timing chips to attach to the runners shoes and extra safety pins at the information tent available to all teams.
Open races have no limit on participants.

Continuing This Year: Additional private schools were invited to compete to make the meet more competitive & incorporate schools that are within Fulton County that may not have an area championship meet.
