Well the title says it all, it was very HOT last week in the state of Georgia. I'm sure several teams had to make practice adjustments due to GHSA wet bulb restrictions and hopefully everybody stayed well hydrated. The heat wave finally broke a little bit today, but it will still be hot in the afternoons for at least a couple more weeks. Fortunately the weather in the morning should be better moving forward, which means better racing conditions than we got this past Saturday.

The big meet over the weekend was the Hoya Invitational, which was a 2 mile race. Not surprisingly, Riley and Paige Comstock took home the wins at their home meet. These two have been the models of elite talent and consistency since middle school and they continue to pile up wins. On the boys side we saw some surprise top 5 finishes out of Paulding with Christian Holloway taking 2nd and Brody Walter taking 4th, scoring upsets over some top talent in Ethan Empie and Bo Colpaert. I'm experienced enough to know that not all top runners are at their best in the first meet of the season, but taking down a couple of big names still names us all take notice. For the girls Aislynn Dunn and Kate Rytlewski were up front as expected, but it looks like alexander is the first team to showcase their freshman lotto win as Natalia Fiqia was 5th overall. For team Walton got a nice 2 point win to start their season, led by Max Ivutin in 7th and the Walton girls upset the Pope girls by a point les by Harper Strong in 7th.
