Westlake Relays Preview

 

For starters, lets talk about the individual races. The girls 100 Hurdles is loaded with 8 girls who have ran 14 seconds or better. It will be a very intense race as Kell 's Kendell Williams (13.57),Westlake's Shani Chandler (14.42), and Southwest Dekalb's Morgan Snow (14.54) will be in a a heat together along with 5 other young ladies who have ran 14 seconds. The girls 300 hurdles will be the race of the day as Kell's freshman Kendell Williams (42.43) will compete against Westlake's Shani Chandler (43.4) These two talented ladies have the capability of going 41 seconds. So bring your cameras & stopwatches for this race. The 4x100 relay favorites are 4 Dekalb County Schools (Redan, Stephenson, MLK,& Southwest Dekalb) and Westlake who are all capable of running under 48 seconds. In the girls 4x400 relay; 5 teams have ran under 3:56!!!!!! (Wow) Kell's freshman Kendell Williams has the longest jump which is 19-3. Seven other young ladies have jumped 17 feet or better.
 
On the boys side, the open 100 meters will be a tight race as Shiloh's Eugene Glenn (10.6)will try to fight off a whole pack of guys that have run 10.80 and faster. In the 110 hurdles, Chapel Hill's Johnathon Parks has run 14.20 and in the 300 hurdles Alexander's Brian Holmes has ran a 37.69. The 4x100 relays will have 3 teams that may run under 42 seconds and the 4x400 relays has 4 teams that have ran 3:20 or better.
