DiQuattro backed up her performer of the week with a 2A state title this year
The people have spoken. Each week this season we had a vote for the top performance. I selected the top 5 performances each week as I saw them based on both time and place in the race. In week 6, Olivia DiQuattro won the vote with 88.22% of the total vote count. Since she won that week she was not nominated for any more top performer votes and instead made it to the final round of voting that took place the last two weeks with all 9 regular season winners and the two top vote earners from the GHSA state meet vote. DiQuattro was the top vote earner a 2nd time with 50.15% of the vote going her way.
So with that, Olivia Diquattro has won the performance of the year with her win at the Westover Invitational in a time of 18:55. Let's highlight his entire season and see what the Columbus freshman accomplished this year.
She started her season and made her high school debut the last weekend of August by running 20:59 to place 2nd in the MCSD Meet. She followed that up with a strong Carrollton debut when she placed 24th at the Carrollton Invite and she then won her first high school race 3 days later in a new PR of 19:31 at the next MCSD meet. She was 2nd at the Marion County meet which would be the last time she lost a race all year.
She won another MCSD meet in a new PR of 19:27 four days before wining the Westover meet in a time of 18:55, earning her performer of the week. It was her first time going under 19 minutes, but not her last. She then won the Cougar classic in a time of 20:08 and was the MCSD city champion in a time of 18:57. She followed that up with her season PR of 18:42 at her sectional meet.
But she saved her best for last as she won the 2A state title at the GHSA State Championships in a time of 19:41, which was 43 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. It was an impressive season that saw the freshman win a state title. Congrats Olivia!
